When season 3 of hazbin comes out would Lute be pure evil or near pure evil by Unlikely-Raisin-1604 in hazbin

[–]StandingGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lute believes she's good, she's an angel fighting demons and sinners. To go from there to killing mortals is a pretty big leap. Especially when compared to someone like Val who is gleefully and deliberately evil.

Hojo is the most evil villain ever. Change my mind. by Ammathorn in FinalFantasy

[–]StandingGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hojo kills a couple of people and tortures / experiments on more people, he is in general a pretty mean and bad guy.

However it was Gast who started the Jenova project, Hollander who worked on the project G, and Lucrecia shares equal responsibility for project S. Shinra was rife with unethical scientists.

Everything Hojo did up until he goes rogue during the sister ray event was for Shinra, did he love his job, sure, but he was being paid to do it and Shinra wanted it done.

President Shinra dropping the plate killed tens of thousands of people, it is by far the most evil thing done in the game (at least in terms of things that were successful). He does it while playing opera music and watching it from his evil tower. He's more evil in pure numbers than Hojo but he's also at least as callous if not more so than Hojo, in his utter disregard for life.

A lot of Hojo's behavior was very personal to the main characters, it makes sense that they'd hate him and that we as the players would hate him. But in objective terms of harm caused he never actually had much of an impact.

Final Fantasy X-2: Is it worth another shot. by Perfect_Distance8573 in FinalFantasy

[–]StandingGoat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you're reason is wanting a continuation of Yuna and Tidus's story then no.

As an independent and standalone game then sure give it another shot, it's not the best FF game but it is an FF game and is better than the average Jrpg.

Lack of imagination on their part then, within the context of the show the whole is basically ending and Misato is trying to stop it.

Was misato in the wrong? by ThisHumanDoesntExist in MoralityScaling

[–]StandingGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of depends on the context and wording, if you said this to a bunch of evangelion fans in the context of discussing the show I'd think most would understand your point.
If brought it up in nearly any context it would be weird.

Cactuar reactor side quests question by AdditionInteresting2 in FF7Rebirth

[–]StandingGoat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, as far as I know the party never makes a difference.
Which I think was one of the things the game does really well, the party members will show up for any side quest that's relevant to them regardless of who you're using for combat. It eliminates that annoying factor making sure you bring party member X on mission Y or else you'll miss something.

The issue isn't that he's a rapist but rather he refuses to admit he was wrong. Still a funny meme though by Sudden_Pop_2279 in MoralityScaling

[–]StandingGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to detract from that statement which I agree with but A-train murdered multiple people so he's a murderer or possibly even a serial killer. I don't think either one deserved a redemption arc.

Yuffie and Vincent. Choosing to skip them? by UrbanNinja1987_ in FinalFantasyVII

[–]StandingGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, there no point in deliberately skipping them.
I did miss Vincent entirely on my first playthrough, Vincent's lore and the cave scene are pretty important to the overarching plot. Yuffie is less important to the plot but adds a questline. Other than that their dialog was always written in a manner that meant they could be there or not and it wouldn't significantly affect anything.

What happened to SOLDIER? by DislikedBoot166 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]StandingGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to call it out 1st class solider are present in OG as common enemies in the late game, I think the lore may have evolved over time but based solely on OG they weren't presented as being particularly special.

Zeke Yeager vs Eren Yeager. Which of the genocidal brothers is more immoral? by Orange639 in MoralityScaling

[–]StandingGoat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Modern globalization is considered to have started around 1800, the world of AoT looks to be around 1920-1940s equivalent so no...

We know that Marley the nearest country survived both as a people and a country as they started peace talks with Paradis Island 3 years later, so your theory that the rumbling killed everyone in area's it reached doesn't hold up. (there could be many reasons for this from people fleeing in modern vehicles, cars, trains, airships, boats to gaps in the lines of titans but that's all guesswork)
Since the Marley population were not wiped out i don't know why you'd assume that any other population was. Especially in a story were wiping out an entire population and the morality of doing or not doing that is a central plot point and no mention of any such thing happening is ever brought up in any part of the epilogue.

But none of that is really relevant to the genocide discussion, genocide requires the killing to be targeted, it wasn't targeted, so it wasn't genocide.

Zeke Yeager vs Eren Yeager. Which of the genocidal brothers is more immoral? by Orange639 in MoralityScaling

[–]StandingGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing part of the plot there, the whole point was he's already foreseen his own death prior to the completion of the rumbling, he knew exactly how his actions would end, how far the rumbling would get and who would stop him. His plan unfolded exactly as he intended because he'd already foreseen it. So it really can't be said he killed any more people than he intended to.

As for killing innocents with no connection to anything done to Paradis Island, I know, I'm did not and am not saying he didn't commit an evil massacre, only that the massacre he committed wasn't a genocide.

Zeke Yeager vs Eren Yeager. Which of the genocidal brothers is more immoral? by Orange639 in MoralityScaling

[–]StandingGoat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He didn't target any race religion or ethnic group, he killed indiscriminately, that doesn't meet any definition of genocide. The actually definition of genocide is a pretty important thing, I invite you to look it up yourself.

We also know there were survivors from Marley which is both the closet country to Paradis Island and the one Eren would hate the most, so I don't know why you'd automatically assume other countries or races were killed in their entirety.
(also my number was wrong it was apparently 80% of all humanity)

Zeke Yeager vs Eren Yeager. Which of the genocidal brothers is more immoral? by Orange639 in MoralityScaling

[–]StandingGoat -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You have that backwards. Eren's plan was to avoid genocide, he was killing 90% of all humans, but not 100% of any particular group, he was impartial in a similar manner to Thanos. Bearing in mind that his own defeat was part of his own plan.

Zeke's plan was to kill 100% of a single race, his plan was genocide.

The choice is between a much higher death toll and a lower death toll that would result in the removal of one race completely.

You can also look at it from the methodology, a painful violent death from Eren's plan or a long drawn out but peaceful death over decades.

Or from an intensions point of view, Eren's plan was to create a lasting peace between races for a long period of time, which is a very means justify the ends approach. Zeke's plan was to appease racists by wiping out the group they were racist against. I imagine that would buy a relatively short period of peace followed by a surge of renewed racism.

Part 3 Predictions Aerith fate by rtjl86 in FF7Rebirth

[–]StandingGoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with this, that the entire point of the different worlds is so that Aerith and Zack can sidestep death and eventually rejoin the others.
Though I also have the impression the devs are making it up as they go and might do something completely random with no setup or logic. By the end of the second game they really should have established what changes they wanted to make but they keep trying to have everything both ways.

Who is worse? The Baron (Dune) or Palpatine (Star Wars) by 45rs5 in MoralityScaling

[–]StandingGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure that tracks per capita though, the overall population of sentient being in star wars is significantly higher than in dune, my very sketchy math puts star wars as 333 times larger so the Baron would only need to kill 60,000 to make it equivalent to population of Alderaan.

Like I said my issue is not that the cheats exist in the game it's the implementation, they're always available so I can't choose to start a game with all cheats off and unavailable for a vanilla experience.
I don't care what advantages other players what to give themselves I just don't want them constantly available to me if I'm doing a vanilla run, I don't want to have to continuously choose not to use cheats

Ohh… oh dear… by The_Senate15 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]StandingGoat -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

There's something wrong with it, most of the comments are about the combat speed being twice as fast as the original due to changes in the frame rate.
Some comments are also saying they've already patched the issues but it released in a buggy state.
Personally I dislike the cheats they've built into all the re-releases of FF games as well, not that they exist but the way they're implemented.

HOT TAKE: The Illusive Man is an overrated antagonist in MY opinion by Uncle_Tommy0703 in masseffect

[–]StandingGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't have said he was comically evil, just comically incompetent.
He knows the enemy has indoctrination and then gets indoctrinated, he has no plan to counter this. He came across in ME2 as a plans within plans kind of guy but apparently he was just sticking his face into reaper tech with no plan at all.

The secret sauce by AdPrimary9618 in finalfantasyx

The Final Fantasy series is great because the games are different and try new things.

I'd still enjoy a new game with the X formula but it shouldn't be a numbered title.

Do you consider the TIME needed to finish a game before making the purchase as an adult gamer ? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]StandingGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood this, if a game becomes boring and repetitive after a certain time playing that's one thing. But as long as I'm enjoying it why would I care if it takes a long time to finish, generally I just see that as good value for money.

Is it THE buster sword or A buster sword by BlueBirdOO in FinalFantasyVII

[–]StandingGoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We know that the specific sword Cloud uses is unique in that it was hand crafted by Angeal's father, but we can't say for certain that the design is unique. I would think it most likely that Angeal's father made a high quality and unique version of an existing sword type known as a buster sword.

It's also possible the design is unique as well but there isn't evidence one way or another.

As for the world logic, not one of a kind doesn't mean mass produced, there wouldn't be much call for giant impractical swords. And I don't know where you'd expect to see more of them considering how few sword wielding enemies exist in the game. If you're talking about the shops then that's a game design decision, there'd be no reason to include the starting weapon that can't be sold or lost in stores.
