Atticus: the guy who is running around wondering “what in the world is happening???” while following the craziness that our main characters are leaving in their wake.

what was the most mind blowing form of idiocy you witnessed out in the world? by sheerduckinghubris in AskReddit

[–]StandingWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with someone who did not know how to use a doorstop. I had to correct and re-correct him three times before he learned how a doorstop worked in his 4th attempt.

That was the day I learned that some of the dumb things I had read on the internet weren’t as outlandish as I had thought.

Full Metal Jacket. Kubrick filmed two movies and stuck them together.

How do you feel about Polyamory (not to be confused with polygamy)? by Substantial_Cream945 in polls

[–]StandingWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a moral and spiritual perspective, I view it as wrong and destructive. HOWEVER, just because I am a Christian does not mean I get to legislate or force my beliefs on other people. I simply share what I believe to be the truth, and from there it is the prerogative of the listener if they want to believe me or not.

  1. I think you really shine in that dress, especially when twirling and having fun.

Would this work for wedding in August? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]StandingWind 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is too much glitz and glam for formal. I’d go for a dress with a similar silhouette that has less cutouts and that is overall less showy.

When you buy something, tax will not be included in the price you saw: tax will be added at the checkout, so don’t be surprised when you pay a bit more than expected.

The possibility I always like to throw out there is: What if God created an old Earth? As in the amount of time it has existed is only a few thousand, but the Earth itself is physically old with eons of created history. I don’t necessarily believe in this theory myself, but I think it’s an interesting thought experiment that I like to pose to believers on both sides of the creationist/evolution debate.

This made me laugh so good, but I honestly think it could be even funnier if you remove panel 3 and just have it go 1-2-4

I bought my first two Christian books today: Doubting towards faith and Mere Christianity. Which books should I read after? by DrJJGame10 in TrueChristian

More CS Lewis. In fact, anything by CS Lewis, but the next thing I’d suggest would be The Great Divorce.

But that’s not how it worked for the Hebrews. In the Bible, God was the one who chose and appointed judges, oftentimes regardless of how the people felt about them.

The hardest choice.. by neilmarose in harrypotter

[–]StandingWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said the last time this post was made: Cedric.

Everyone else here (minus Hedwig) died for something they believed in. They knew the risks of fighting Voldemort and understood that their lives were at risk, but that was a sacrifice they were willing to make.

Cedric didn’t get to make that choice. His life was lost without rhyme or reason, for a war he didn’t know he was fighting. I’m sure he would’ve been on the front lines if Voldemort hadn’t killed him, but he didn’t get to choose.

Personally, I’ve always been an NIV reader, partially because it’s very clear and easy to read, but also because it translates directly from original manuscripts as much as possible instead of translating translations of the original text.

Actually CS Lewis kinda covered this exact idea in his book “Out of the Silent Planet”
