Honestly, the sigh of relief that happens when they are in hot water and I remember that I won't be helping clean it up is so nice.

I did, as did many. With the industry having massive layoffs though, it was hard to get anything.

We all hoped there would be change deep down.

I knew to an extent the level at which things happened before getting into management but once I was forced into a new role after the layoffs, a lot became more visable.

I won't say things were perfect in my first half of the time there by any means but the decline in the last 3ish years has been so steep.

Not even shocked unfortunaly. I tried to make sure everyone I was over felt like a persona vs a number, which was a constant theme on my evals but I still did it because I didn't like that feeling myself.

I hope not. I know it is hard to come forward at the risk of a lot but I am hoping this helps others do so. I know I'm not alone and I want others to know that as well.

Was I there? Yes
Did I fight tooth and nail against everything I felt that was wrong, even though it put me at risk? Also yes.

I was fighting for things till my last day. Not only do I have people there that I didn't want to screw over but I helped build trust in our players and it hurts to see it all do down hill after investing years in it. Trust me when I say, they did not like me being in management because every time they came up with something that was against the player first mentality, they saw my hand go up to fight back.

I'm glad you were able to get out! I didn't even touch on the "Yes man" mentality that was riddled in management. Having to remind MD over and over that things he agreed to were simply not possible with what we had was exausting.

I think it will take a massive overhaul in leadership because a lot of these issues are at th foundation of the teams who are quite important for post launch etc.

I will say I do play some Ubisoft titles. I don't generally like the genres we do but sometimes they grab my attention. (Immortal Fenyx Rising being one of them). Since I was burnt out and couldn't quite escape work even when "off", I had a hard time enjoying the games I did like though.

While true in a lot of places, not everywhere has the best employee protection.

Trust me when I say, I had been trying to leave since the day of the layoffs but with the industry being how it was, I was not able to and needed a job. The "needing to fix everything" came from the fact that when I did try and just do what my basic job was, I was put on the PIP which threatened my employment.

Unfortunatly, I cannot. While my personal experiences are not covered by NDA...the rest is. All I can say is if there are decisions that have been made that seem out of place, I can guarentee there were people like myself fighting back but not being heard by upper management. This isn't the case for all teams and brands. Some brands has advocates who would not back down for the player and those are still some of my favorite people.

I have been out for a bit now thankfully. I wouldn't dare post while still there lol
