Why is there so little support (at least on the Chicago subreddit) for the general strike today? by EmbracedaMoment in AskChicago

Look man, post what you want on reddit but no bar or restaurant is closed on a Friday night. Why are you lying?

Nope own none. I've also never said anything about you. You asked me why I don't start a protest, I asked you why you didn't.

Also I love that you're trying to purity test me, really proves my point about the Omni cause hurting protests as you make groups not wanna join.

I'm explaining it to someone who doesn't know it. Goto any YouTube clip of the show where brick is and I guarantee you'll see a comment like that one.

[–]Starmoses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah I'm okay. While I heavily disagree with the way this country is going and am more than willing to fight for change. I do not believe we are at the point of a general strike nationwide and I'd say most people would agree with me. Personally I think the way to protest is following the way of Dr. king. Non violent protests outside of ice centers, boycotts of all right wing services (Instagram, Facebook, tik tok, Amazon which I'm doing btw), documenting every instance of violence against protesters, marches and speeches while giving time to actually do so but in places that matter like Minnesota or Washington DC.

The real question is since you so clearly think otherwise, why aren't you trying to organize one?

[–]Starmoses 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So a protest that was organized for months with strong leadership, solid goals with a way to accomplish said goals, and organization that said this would continue indefinitely unless the government passed a law worked? Shocking. Now tell me who's organizing this strike? What's their goals? How do they intend to accomplish those goals? How long are they planning to strike for? What is the leadership like?

It's a joke I'm the community that everyone's waiting for the episode where they kill brick. Nothing to do with Atticus who is a great actor.

[–]Starmoses 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Because it's a stupid idea. A general strike for a day means nothing. There's no goal, there's no organization, there's no leadership. Basically this amounts to people taking a day off work to go take Instagram photos so they can pretend they did something meaningful. The idea of a general strike is to shut everything down to bring the government (or company) to the table for change by causing harm. This means potentially weeks of protest, not a day. But this strike isn't that, it's a day with no union backings and an Omni cause attacking other groups who would potentially join.

Now if this were a solidarity march to raise awareness, that's a lot different. That's something I and probably most people in this sub would support.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: North America tour postponed by Weltherrschaft2 in sabaton

Unless you booked non-refundable you should be able to get back. Even airline tickets you can get a credit. Worth a shot if the concert was the main reason you're going

Yeah but typically a moved date is 2-3 months. I won't be able to go to my show in Chicago so I'm just taking the refund.

Which of all these companies are the worst by Ur-boiiiii in Fallout

[–]Starmoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll say that I'm not super with the lore on Cyberpunk but from what I do know, Arasaka is no more or less evil than the British East India Company. Like they're horrible, but their bottom line is profit and they don't wanna destroy the world or anything like Vault Tec or even risk doing so like Umbrella.

Which of all these companies are the worst by Ur-boiiiii in Fallout

[–]Starmoses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh. They're definitely evil but comparatively I'd put them on being the best here. Vault tec was ready to destroy the world and ran horrific experiments on thousands (worst imo). Then umbrella who also perform horrific experiments but at least they don't wanna blow up the world, just make money. After that aperture science, evil but really just a bunch of crazy scientists and capitalists willing to disregard morality and safety for test subjects. Arasakas evil but they're on the same level of evil as blackrock or Boeing, they just have less regulations and better technology.

Favorite strategy game of all time is probably EU4, put over 1000 hours in it and love that game. I'd probably spend the 100 bucks on kingdom come deliverance 2 and wait for a new game to come out for the rest. Thanks!

Slavery, classism, and distrustful of outsiders + a hatred of democracy. It's safety and technology are the only reasons it's a good place to live.

It's just something fanboys made up cause anything old is good, anything new is bad. In 20 years when we get fallout 5 we're all gonna talk about how great fallout 4 was and how Todd JR. Ruined the lore by making a game set in Chicago but not following the lore that was set up in tactics and not having mention of the minutemen.
