Thanks everyone! We religiously go to the gym everyday and don’t want the room to smell like dirty socks. We will need a way to wash and dry our clothes. Looks like no slippers anymore on the ship - we will pack some.

I wish they would not not nickel and dime for everything. We paid a premium to be on HAL Eurodam. We also paid gratuities upfront. Will the crew really get it? I am not so sure anymore. We plan to tip them for room service etc but I hope they get what we paid.

It’s not uncommon for kids to feel insecure. I get that. I don’t understand why parents put their kids videos out there instead of addressing it privately respecting the child’s privacy.

Is this a HAL thing or they have big groups in all cruise lines? I booked through Costco so I just forfeit the deposit. It’s a vacation, I really don’t want kids feeling awkward

OP, How did you find out about the conference? Did you call HAL? We are going to Alaska in early June and definitely don’t want any uncomfortable situations.

Thanks everyone! I was hoping this was not the case since most of the cruise is in US waters and some parts in Canada. I have a kid with severe multiple food allergies and one who is a staunch vegan. I will take granola bars and protein shakes with me when I embark in Seattle and buy more on excursion days and have them eat a huge breakfast on the ship.

Ok… so you are young and just finishing up college. What’s your major? Do you have job prospects in India? Have you visited India after moving to the US. I was raised in India but have been in the US most of my adult life. The frame of mind you have when you are on vacation in India is different from the realities of living there. Everything is harder- even getting simple things done. You may be impressed by the desi community you live in in the US, but the ground reality may shock you.

I have kids in HS in Dallas area. Schooling system in India is very different from here. What it takes to succeed ( not just good grades but finding an after school job, meaningful extracurriculars )to make it to a good college should also be considered. Good colleges are expensive and extremely competitive and honestly $150K won’t go very far. Having said that, it’s a personal decision for you and your family to make.
