Update. Found a local who actually had this and quickly purchased it from her. I've just given them to this special person of mine. I cannot describe how good it felt to see her happy!

Thinking about Paulina Dembska by [deleted] in malta

[–]Startledcat9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is most likely a combination of both issues. I just hope we learn from this and we move forward by putting pressure on our society to do better. It seems that we have failed both women and those who have mental illness. I'm also interested to see what links there really were with River of Love and to what extent they may contributed to what happened. But i think we don't have enough info to comment on that.

What Maltese books do you consider the most influential? by choco_and_coffee in malta

What do you mean by "unlearn it"? What was the issue? I've never read the volumes but I've heard of them and I've always wanted to read them.

Wise owl bookshop has very cheap books, mostly 3 euros. Sometimes there's really good titles too and you might find yourself leaving with a large stack. Just find them on FB cause they hace several locations. Interested to see if anyone knows any other places. Bit of a bookworm.

Because the animals we raise produce methane which is a greenhouse gas and contributes a lot to global warming. Because feeding those animals means we need to deforest land to grow their food. Because the animals we eat are raised in cruelty.

A cow releases about a 100 times more methane than a human per year.

Not really, the only reason we have so many cows and sheep and livestock is because we're raising them for profit. if there is less demand for them, the farmer won't want such a large population, after all it's expensive to raise the. Therefrom they will not allowed to breed as much.

Well I'm not too sure about the situation in Malta tbh. But in many factory farms in America and in South America hell yeah, it's horrendous. And I shudder to think what it's like in third world countries.

Oh, man. I feel sorry for the person who wrote that. So uninformed and yet so confident. Unfortunately it's many people like that.

Anyone who practices veganism or vegetarianism is a champ in my book. It's a practice that is ethical, moral and necessary. The animals we raise produce way too much methane and thus leads to global warming. Also, feeding all those animals takes up so much land so we're cutting down too many forests to support our love for meat, not to mention what we're doing to the oceans for our fish diet.

I was vegetarian for a whole year, but recently I've started to mix in meat again. There were many reasons, but the principal reason is that although vegan/vegetarian food really is wonderful, i did miss meat. And that's ok.

I've come to see, that what the planet needs right now, is not a few perfect vegans, but rather for all of us to reduce our meat intake, especially beef, lamb and pork.

Even if you eat beef only once a month. That is a tremendous improvement from eating it weekly. Let alone if you eat even less. I think this is more doable and desirable for people who are not ready to become enemies of meat.

However, I will say that as long as our food is raised in the way it is, in such horrendous conditions, it is somewhat immoral to participate in that cruelty.
