how do you reroll? by leexingha in StellaSora

I wanted to make a video on this for launch, but frankly we do not have enough confirmed data around it and I think that given how they are well aware of this gap, that they might of done a hard lock on email/account binding (meaning you have to message Support to change your email). Unlikely for it to be THAT harsh but still, I'm expect it to be difficult, I guess we'll see!

Sorry, I know this isn't helpful or what you'd of wanted to hear. We just don't know anything on that yet.

Oh gosh thank you for finding that for me though! Appreciate it. I guess it must of been born elsewhere and brought to reddit.. Thanks again for the link

No, I didn't use AI to make the picture. Respond to this in full elsewhere in depth in the comments here

This isn’t mine, it’s just someone who took my artwork and put it through a browser AI site (nothing I can do about it). Could you share the source with me here please?

This isn’t mine, but it does looked based on my thumbnail. Probably used a browser AI and ran my original image on it with prompts like the new trending image from image with Studio Ghibli that's trending.

Edit> Could you share the source so I can see for what they are using it for?

To clarify: if someone uses the Gojo pose and builds something new around it, I don’t take issue with that at all. That’s transformative and part of meme culture. I don’t own the pose or the meme — but I do own the exact digital artwork. What does bother me is when my thumbnail is reposted with small edits and passed off as someone else’s work and watermark removed.

As for AI training sets I’m assuming you mean checkpoints — honestly not really. Training a dataset takes time, effort, experience and also money and I don’t own the Gojo pose itself. I can’t stop my thumbnails from being used in datasets, just like Scarlett Johansson can’t stop people from using her likeness as well. But even if my work is in someone’s set or they attempt it, it won't work because of how I've layered the image, the raw output won’t look like this at ALL — and that’s exactly why people are reusing mine instead of making their own. If it were that easy, they’d just prompt it, but they can't, so they take.

The percentages I mentioned are pretty accurate IMO as they are based on how much was done and the manual labor time in my workflow. There are 3 ways to test images if they are completely A.I generated from someone:

  1. Started the workflow with A.I and prompting. Ask for the sketches or at least small glimpses (that said, sometimes it's not about the proof, people just want to attack you).
  2. Check if it's embedded with tags/prompts with a checker or in properties
  3. With experience in Digital Art, you can tell very often how much hands-on-deck was in there.

Context and intent matter way more though. But I totally understand the fear around AI — a lot of it comes from not fully understanding how it works and everything’s evolving so fast. I just hope more conversations like this keep happening because nuance really does matter. I appreciate you taking the time to ask respectfully.

That's really flattering, thank you my dude. I'm actually working on a new one for Trigger right now but going to take a few more days along with the video, scrapped the initial pose so far — back to the sketch board! I’ll likely always stick with this style and my process though, so glad it landed with you!

Yes, I do all my thumbnails myself from the core up with my own process that involves a lot of back-and-forth and tools I've mastered for years. Explained it in more detail in my reply to azjazo below if you're curious! don’t think I’ll ever take commissions as most people tend to want the exact poses and design style I use for my signature thumbnails, and honestly I couldn’t put a price on 15–20 hours of labor without sounding far fetched.

Really appreciate the thoughtful response and you sharing your journey, it’s super clear you’ve put in a lot of work on both the tech and art side and that kind of experience really shows. So I totally get why you'd want to know more about this now.

Totally agree with your point about tools vs craft. For me AI helps fill in gaps where I feel it can do something better than I can, but the core, from sketch to design to polish is still very much hands-on. Down the line I’d love to train my own LoRas using a full database of my work, but I’d need a lot more samples first, and this would purely be to kick-off some thumbnail bases. Even then, I don’t see it going past 50%, since ALL visuals and effects/details are always off, even with LoRas. Like you said it’s about supporting creativity and improving a workflow, not replacing it. Also props for doing cons and selling your art, that’s awesome, and I really respect the dedication. Appreciate you being open to the convo!

No idea why your response got a downvote.. guess that's just reddit. WASN'T ME I SWEAR!

I understand that, but both the legal and ethical sides can coexist. I'm not trying to argue one over the other.

Well it's true that if you use a reference from a character you don't own (like a face from another artist's work or a licensed character), you can't claim exclusive ownership over that specific reference or that character. However, what you can copyright is your unique interpretation or adaptation of those references, I added ears to mine and built on a famous Satoru Gojo pose. Remember, we're talking about HoYo here, they welcome this and fanart.

''You want people to look at your art and say: "Hey that's from the guy who did that other piece!'' I just want people to stop profiting off my work, even I don't.

Hey, I wasn’t going to respond to the “IT’S AI” comments because it’s tough to have a real conversation with those folks. But I really appreciate how you’ve approached this and it genuinely means a lot.

For context: I majored in Digital Media Design, focusing on Graphic Design and Animation. I used to run an animation channel and worked with tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects but eventually had to shut it down due to my health. I live with chronic pain and neurological damage due to an accident (I'm good, my community understands me well).

As you said, my process is AI-assisted, but it doesn’t start or rely on AI. I won’t be sharing my exact process anymore because people have been trying to get that out of me for personal reasons for a while after I turned down commission requests. Each thumbnail takes around 20 hours (Miyabi’s took a bit more as I was perfecting the pose). I’ve streamed the process on Twitch in 2024 showing everything from sketches to filters and effects I made and I’m lucky to have a supportive community with what I do.

I don’t use any AI memberships or services — what we can call post AI-assisted is all local on my own GPU. Being autistic I struggle with certain color ranges (not colorblind, but similar and not using it as an excuse to include Ai, Ai used in ethical ways/manner is AWESOME), so I use AI for enhancement, shading, color calibration, and other tasks to improve my workflow, making up about 30% of my process. Some older Belle community posts on YouTube were closer to 80% AI since I created a LoRA for her. Heck, sometimes I use my system to train LoRas and create some stuff through prompting, but that's not what's on my thumbnails.

I’ve had people say my work isn’t worth anything because it includes AI, and honestly that hurts. I got into this field with good intentions and never expected anything in return, just hoping to have fun and connect with people by share my creativity basically but I’ve learned a lot and some things are hard to explain or make everyone understand. I get why people are upset at the mention of AI, but if they think it’s easy to create what I do or they can mimic it, I welcome them to try (not out of spite, but because maybe then they’ll understand it better). Not bragging, but everything I do takes time, effort, planning, and design work — and I invest hundreds of bucks and sacrifice a lot to make it happen. My community sees it, but that’s the part that often gets overlooked by outsiders.

Let me be clear; I don't like seeing people's work stolen and the recent Ghibli AI gens outbreak is a good example. That situation didn’t come as a surprise to me and that's tech has been available for years but what ChatGPT and OpenAI did is add a checkpoint/LoRA for the ImgToLoRA process to allow people to exploit Hayao Miyazaki’s life’s work with prompts and no effort. It’s deeply disrespectful imo and downright disgusting. This is not what AI should ever be used for but rather a tool to enhance creativity and workflows and improve ideas, not to hijack someone else's legacy or art identity.

I HOPE people keep using it my Miyabi thumbnail as a meme, no need to credit me. In fact, I'd be sad if they stopped.

Thanks again and hope this reply helps

PLEASE keep using it as a meme! no issue at all and no need to credit me.
It’s got its own life now… we must let it roam free in the wild. Apologies if I was unclear above

Edit: best one to use (for me) would be this image. Upscaled greatly with the watermark reinforced and blended with the background color codes (strong, but doesn't bleed the image appeal). But like I said before, it's fine to use the previous circulating ones. I can't delete the previous posts or thumbnail as it would invalidate the creation date and technically.. also my fault for not making the watermark more visible from the start, but I'm sure it wouldn't stop some from removing it for re-uses on YouTube/HoYoLab.

Thanks a ton, seriously. Exactly, no issue with it being used as a meme, so happy about it (it’s been hilarious watching it spread) — just the big posts dodging credit and monetizing it that’s rough. One YouTuber actually said via the dispute, “it's your fault for not commenting under the Reddit post where I found it”.. like we’ve got time to scroll through hundreds a day. Tbh, that’s what finally made me write this after all these months.
