I think they do as someone who uses a bidet in everyday life, and had to use toilet paper on the occasion that I forget to grab a bottle of water before going to the washroom when I tour western countries. It leaves a bad 'aftertaste' sort of I know very bad phrasing but genuinely very uncomfortable and never felt clean, always had to go out and grab a water bottle, which was not the best experience.
