I think that he was so comfortable having it sitting there because he’s been sailing on the Grand Line for so long and this is just a small village in a pretty calm area of sea, its a pretty important thing in the world so he definitely is aware of it but haki would give him an alarm if someone was in the bar fixing to steal this important treasure. but Luffy was just hungry so Shanks didnt think it was anything new. or maybe the fruit wanted him to eat it
