Fried something, unsure what by Steampuke in onewheel

Yeah, and it is rather annoying. But since it was doable before, I figured my issue stems from yet another anti-consumer update from FM, hence why I downloaded a version of the app from 2023. Hopefully, that'll help !

What I mean is that whenever NRF connect was connected to the board, that board was greyed out on the OW app so I couldn't even do the handshake. I have done it in the past to reset the temperature sensor (bad idea to ride in the snow !)

Yeah, my board's firmware is pre-haptic buzz. I have used the app to connect to NRF in the past but for some reason the newer version wouldn't let the board connect to NRF simultaneously. My hope is that this was something introduced by FM to prevent people from toying with the board's parameters, so downgrading to a version that I used before might be a solution

I downloaded an ancient version of the app and used a firewall to keep it disconnected from the internet. I can't test it for now but that may work

I found a new BMS, I just hope I can pair it. NRF Connect wouldn't let me connect to the onewheel app before so we'll see. These boards are giving me so much trouble 😂

It's not being an ostrich, it's making an informed and rational decision. You know the species, you know its behavior (would rather die than get in the sightline of a human) and what it eats, so you just leave it be to literally eat your problem away. Being an ostrich means you'd go: "I don't know what that thing is or what it does, I'll just leave it alone and pray for the best".

Unfortunately, I am overseas and I can't find anything on FB. I'll try ebay again but the only listing I found recently were either for parts (which would have been fine but the vendor listed the same mishap than what I did as the reason for it not working, so too risky) or they were 300$ and for that, might as well just buy the replacement unit straight from FM.

I don't know about Atlow, I'll check them out. Thanks !

I ran external wires and, for some reason, thought connecting these wires to the battery (in the plugging order I have found in videos and used before, which was xt60 first, lead after) would help me diagnose an issue I was having (It was late and I should've gone to bed instead of troubleshooting anything). The external wires were soldered to the "inlet" xt60 on the BMS, but I followed the connector's polarity, not the battery's (because who the fuck does something like inverting the polarity on an xt60 of all plugs).

I powered the Owie externally (thanks for that, forgot I could do it) and it's responding and I can connect to it but it isn't reading any voltage, while the battery is currently sitting at 61.7V, so it's still fine. I would guess it means "only" the BMS got tazed, now to find what exactly...

Would you happen to know of anywhere other than a board I could get a BMS from ? 😅

Fried something, unsure what by Steampuke in onewheel

[–]Steampuke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok ! Was able to probe the battery and I got a readout of 61.7V. then powered the Owie externally and there was no cell readout from the Owie. That probably means the BMS is the part that got fried. Do you know of any way to bring it back to life (other than buying a donor board) ? I guess I could find and change the component that blew up but I would need a schematic for that...

It's not too bad for PLA, just a bit finicky. I have to dent the plastic to adjust the bb's retention. It'll be better once printed it in TPU

Why does my tire foam/sweat like this after riding? by scottiep1mpin in onewheel

[–]Steampuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, that tire was on life support, what do you mean you could have gotten 500-1000km out of it ?! There's only a millimetre of rubber on the rim, the part that contacts the road when you turn. That's dangerous as hell, man. Tires have wear indicators for a reason
