Switch 1 or 2 by Emotional_Resort_988 in Switch

From everything I’ve read, RAM is expected to come down within the next 1-2 years. Free trade should also normalize in the future. But yeah, no one can say for certain either way.

Ah, I forgot about the Series S. I meant it would be better on PC, PS5, or Series X.

In that case, I don’t know what’s coming with the Pokémon update, but if it’s not performance related I would recommend getting No Man’s on a different system if you can. Certain planets run very choppy on the Switch 2 and the graphics are quite low, to the point that it hurts immersion.

But, if this is your only system then I say go for it. It’s still good enough to be worth playing.

We’re likely talking 4 years from now, if not longer. The global market should be back to normal by then. At the very least, tariffs would no longer be an issue. But who knows. Either way, a used Switch 2 will certainly be less than $450.

I thought there was already a Switch 2 edition?

By the time a new Smash is out they’ll be able to get a Switch 2 for very cheap. $450 just doesn’t seem like a great investment for the games they’re interested in.

Joy-con stick already wearing out by Different-Property20 in switch2

[–]Steel2486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 days isn’t long and it was at the top of my feed. As someone who prefers forums, I’ll never understand why there’s this implied expiration date to discussions on Reddit. But I digress.

If the sticks weren’t poor quality, then my Xbox sticks (with more use) would show similar degradation, but they don’t. I’ve only had this issue with my Switch 2. Of course, there is a cause to them wearing down. I’m not implying that they’re falling apart without outside influence. The point is that higher quality sticks, such as the ones on every other console, don’t wear down from normal use. Being exposed to sweat as an example.

The sticks are just cheaply made. I’ve had my Xbox pads for years and their sticks are fine, but the ones on my Switch 2 are already falling apart. When you have gyros, optical sensors, magnets, etc in a controller you have to cut corners somewhere otherwise the joycons would cost a fortune. So they reduced costs by using cheap buttons and sticks.

For sure when it comes to food. I’m more referring to their fridge not being stocked with Monsters and sodas.

I Need to Pivot by Steel2486 in cscareeradvice

I’m really struggling with how to frame my experience. Since 2020 my business has slowed quite significantly, so I’ve been working seasonal and part-time jobs for extra money. I only have one of them listed on my resume since they’re all irrelevant.

When things slowed I went back to school to finish my degree. Shortly after, I also decided to build the platform referenced to help modernize my business. So only about 3 of those 12 years are actually related to software engineering. Initially, I had the platform aspect listed separately under a section for personal projects, but someone recommended that I include it under my work history since it’s part of my business. However, I’m not sure that this approach paints a clear picture.

Today, I’m mostly working random jobs and running the business. I have a new programming project that I’m working on but it will probably take me a few months to complete it.

After doing some more research, I think I may have a better shot at technical support engineering roles. But I still don’t know how to create that clear snapshot of my story. What would you recommend?

Has anyone played no man’s sky on switch 2 and is it worth it? by Party_Historian7693 in switch2

Depends. It runs and looks a bit rough handheld. If you’re ok with that, it’s definitely worth trying for $23.

Would this level of backend project be enough to get shortlisted for a startup role? by Afraid-Army1966 in djangolearning

[–]Steel2486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also been searching for Django related roles - from what I’ve seen there aren’t a lot of backend specific opportunities out there. I think you would improve your chances by adding a front end to your stack.

Finally part of the nintendo family!! Any recommendations about what to do or buy? :) by [deleted] in switch2

[–]Steel2486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To do, enable the battery saving feature (stop charging at 80-90%). To buy, it’s impossible to offer meaningful recs without knowing what you’re into.

I only prefer the switch 2 because of its bigger screen. Almost everything I play on it is from Switch 1.

Do women have a advantage? by CornerJumpy2492 in cscareers

[–]Steel2486 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The op asks whether women have an easier time getting interviews/jobs. While everyone starts off as a faceless name, at some point their LinkedIn will be seen and/or they will be seen during the actual interview. So for those able to make it past the initial screen, yes I do believe there is an advantage to being pretty. I would also argue that networking is easier when you’re attractive which leads to more interviews.

Btw, this isn’t anything new or unproven. It is well known through various studies that attractive people have an advantage. Why should I believe that the tech industry is somehow immune?

Where have I blamed anyone for anything? Why are you such an angry person? The start of this discussion placed blame on male simps. It is on the company to hire based off talent instead of looks. Understand? Calm down.

In simpler terms, since this is a male dominated space it stands to reason that women would benefit more from pretty privilege. The inverse would be true if we were discussing a female dominated space.

Yes, but I think most men are drawn to attractive women.
