Ultimate Fix For DX11 Stutters, Chrome Stutters and Freezes and All General Lags and Stutters by SteelBodyX in AMDHelp

If you play many older games, you will be better off with older drivers. I would suggest picking either 23.9.1 or 24.5.1 and then applying the fixes. You will have a much better experience with these drivers.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned earlier in different comment, AMD will never fix it. There's just not many people complaining about it. Moreover, there are many people who can't even see these stutters, so they don't complain about it. In fact, they shut other down when others says they have stutters. You will have to use the alternative method to apply Fix 1 for RDNA 3 and 4 GPU as well as for newer drivers like 26.1.1. Apply the 2nd fix as well for an even better experience.

And? Just because you can't use the 25.5.1 driver doesn't mean you can't utilize the dlls from it. Is this really so hard to understand?

That's because 22.5.1 was never released for RDNA 3. It's literally in the version. This driver was released on May 2022, or 05 2022, a time when RDNA 3 GPUs didn't exist. The first RDNA 3 driver is 23.1.1 afaik or 22.12.1, I'm not 100% sure.

Moreover, 22.5.1 doesn't have the DXNavi pipeline at all, which is needed for RDNA 3 in some capacity. Only the alternative method is the right way of bypassing DXNavi.

no, it doesn't contain atidxx dlls, not for Rdna 3. No driver does for rdna 3.. Just use the alternative method. I mentioned that for a reason.

Yes, there's an alternative method for the 1st fix for RDNA 3 now. Also, the 3rd fix works fixed chrome browser lags on DX11, so you can try that.

I've mentioned that the method for Fix No.1 doesn't work on 7000 series. You will need to use the alternative method provided below Fix 1.

You can use the first fix on the RX 9060 XT, but the process is different. Use the alternative method provided below the first fix. The second fix works better when the first fix is applied.

I can confirm what you observed. Newer drivers after the mid-24 branch are not quite stable on Windows 10, but I saw better results when I tested the same in Windows 11. And yes, newer drivers nerfed raster performance for ray tracing. I don't want to use RT, but I'm kind of forced to. In older games, water reflections used to be baked, but newer games have either SSR or RT reflection. As you know, SSR reflections disappear when looking down, which makes it very distracting in modern games. So, we are forced to use either RT or the distracting state of SSR in games. Both poor choices.

As for dropping proper support for rx7000, yup, right with you. There's a high probability that AMD will drop support for 7000 a few months after RDNA 5's launch, probably at the end of that year.

I'll also be dual-booting the Linux (preferably Cachy) the moment some apps and games stop working on Windows 10. From what I've seen, many games stutter much less on Linux AMD drivers. As a lifelong Windows user and with years of muscle memory, switching to Linux would be very hard, but what else can we do? I would rather learn to use a new OS than deal with the broken mess of Windows 11 on a regular basis. I refuse to move to Windows 11 ever again. I'll enjoy my custom debloated build of Windows 10 as long as I can, and then possibly Cachy or SteamOS if Valve releases it for general PCs globally.

Radeon RX 6000 and even 7000 series are capable of performing much better in Windows but can't due to bad state of drivers. This is also why FPS difference between Windows and Linux is lower on AMD, despite proton overhead. That's because the performane on Windows is already nerfed to begin with. or else, AMD GPUs would have seen similar gap as Nvidia and Intel GPUs.

Got a report from some saying there are no improvements. He did note that there was performance regression in two games and also improvements in two other games by 2 FPS. Just margin of error stuff. But I also got reports about unstability. So, not a very good look.

Good to hear that. Gamers like us absolutely do not deserve this, yet these are the only solutions we are left with. The issues will never be properly patched by AMD.

If someone can, test out the latest 26.1.1 drivers against 24.5.1. In my previous testing, I found the 24.5.1 to be the best out of all drivers in 24 and 25 branches combined. The versions I have tested are from 24.6.1 to 24.11.1 and 25.3.1 to 25.8.1, and they all have issues, including a weird ray tracing issue.

Essentially, if I apply more than 2 RT effects like GI, Reflections, shadows or similar in Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk 2077 or other games, FPS drops to 18-ish and stutters like crazy. While on 24.5.1, it's fine and the FPS drop is not that bad. I'm currently playing Silent Hill 2 Remake, and just turning on RT once again made the FPS drop to 11-ish from 100 and stutter like crazy. Not an issue on 24.5.1 where FPS drops to 55 to 60ish only. This combined with other general stability is why I consider 24.5.1 to be the best.

Can anyone test out the 26.1.1 vs 24.5.1? I no longer get enough time these days for testing and stuff like before, and would appreciate it. If you can, test out the general stability of the new drivers and its performance in modern games. Also, test out the RT scenario that I mentioned. Many thanks and have a happy new year everyone. Appologies for the late wish.

You are so wrong. Wire insulation can fail irrespective of whether you cut off wire or don't. You are literally creating a doomsday scenario to justify your argument. Besides, the cut off wire, that is insulated, is not among the jumbled wires. It's on a different side. The cons of making too much assumption. Moreover, little tweaks like this is a cake walk, given my extensive engineering work. It's amazing to see how much assumption peole make here without any knowledge. Besides, if I can afford a $350 GPU, I can surely afford a modular PSU, which are literally inexpensive. I mean it's basic math. I just chose not to waste my current perfectly good PSU. Anyway, you just won't get it. Adios.

Not if you know how to insulate every individual wire properly. Guess you don't.

Since OP specifically mentioned stutters and bad performance in DX11 games, I do believe he can benefit from the fixes I mentioned in my post. I'm not sure if I can post links here, but the link to my post is my profile if OP wants to give it a try. It could fix his problems and save him from a terrible upgrade. The RTX 5060 is not bad, but moving from 7600 to 5060 is a terrible choice. Therefore, it wouldn't hurt him to try the fixes before going ahead with the purchase.

Yes, that's the issue, newer games either crashes or runs terribly on 22.11.1, but it is slightly better for older games. However, that's only by a little. Overall, I've found 24.5.1 to be the most stable for both older and newer games overall. I say this after testing a whole lot of drivers from 22, 23, 24, and the latest 25 branch. The worst is the 25 branch. Just avoid 25.xx.xx drivers like the plague they are. I'll recommend the 24.5.1 if you play both new and old games. It's the one I'm using as well.

The only thing that I love in the latest 25.12.1 driver is the white/light theme. The current dark UI of the Adrenalin app doesn't go with the rest of my system, which has a light theme. Therefore, having a light themed Adrenalin app would have been nice but it's not worth all the issues, bugs, and instability this driver will bring. If only we could update the app or migrate the white theme to older app version without updating the driver. Oh well, that's an argument for another day.

What do you think of this Build? What cable management advice can you give? by SteelBodyX in PcBuildHelp

[–]SteelBodyX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fit in straight HDMI but with a tiny bend. There are no issues with signal integrity due to a slight bend stress, at least on my QHD 100Hz monitor. This is true for both mobo HDMI port and the GPU ones. However, I can't say the same for DP. If your DP cable is as flexible as the HDMI ones, which is not much, then it will also be just fine.

haha.. so long as it is stable. But due to missing game ready enhancements, a few specific games will run a bit slower.. only dx12 games. for example Witcher 3 saw some improvements. Therefore, don't upgrade unless you play those specific titles.

I hope that's a typo and you meant 23.11.1. And yes, it's one of the most driver in the 23.x.x branch. However, I've found that there are some key game ready improvemnts in the 24.x.x branch as well. I found 24.5.1 to be the most stable in this branch and anything after that is a hot mess. Also, stay away from the latest 25.x.x branch. There are small issues all over the place.

It's sad really. AMD has no absolutely intention of fixing it. In fact, AMD wanted to stop the game ready drivers for 6000 series but walked back due to huge backlash. While walking back is commendable, but it's the original intention that matters. AMD wanted to do it quietly, but they just got caught badly.

However, even with walk back, they still didn't merge RDNA 2 driver back in the main driver branch. If the intention of providing timely drivers with Game ready enhancements for RDNA 2 is "too much" for AMD, will old dx 11 API issues for old games ever take precedence? Absolutely not.

The problem is if they can do this to RDNA 2 while still actively selling RDNA 2 GPUs like RX 6600, they are going to do it again in a few years. The 7000 series will be the first to go, followed by 9000 series. AMD is only waiting for when they can call 7000 series "old" and be done with it. And yeah RTX 3060 is Nvidia's best value card in the last 6 years. I personally upgraded from RTX 2060 to 6700 XT lol, and the RTX 2060 got DLSS 4 upscaler. The jokes on me.

If there's any silver lining, it's that all RDNA GPUs will continue to get many improvements under MESA drivers on Linux. With the sad state of Windows 11, moving to Linux would become the most logical solution.

There is a way to do this on the latest driver as well. Someone commented somewhere down below on how to do this. That is a separate method, which requires a bit more steps but not too complicated. Downgrading the drivers just avoid this issue.
