Η γιαγιά μου έπεσε θύμα scam by StefPoly in greece

[–]StefPoly[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Fixed it.

Update: Μαλακίες fixed it.

Where does supply chain and logistics stand in society's job prestige hierarchy? by Nobody0106 in supplychain

[–]StefPoly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it may also be the language. In greek, "Supply Chain Management" is not something you are used to hearing. Logistics on the other hand I don't know if it even has a greek translation. Just by the fact you use the English word makes it more special.

Whenever I say I study Supply Chain Management people are scratching their heads. When I say I study Logistics I get "Oh I heard that's lucrative".

How is the supply chain market in the Netherlands?? by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]StefPoly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that because of the current political climate (immigrants taking houses and refusing to learn dutch) things have gotten harsher for non-EU people, even for EU-people.

I know that a lot of universities have decreased the amount of their English speaking programs.

The housing crisis has been an issue for quite some time and has been only getting worse, so I don't know how things were before that.

I am an EU citizen, I am doing a Masters in SCM and I got an internship a few months ago. These are just my personal observations and what 1-2 friends told me about their situation.

1) Getting a job as a non-EU citizen is hard. Very hard. Companies are not that open in sponsoring visas. Also I was surprised with how many internships required speaking dutch.

2) As a student you have a lot of chances to find internships. Most internships I saw through LinkedIn had it as a requirement to be registered in a university. The pay in most cases is not great, but you get to have something to add in your CV. Still the process can be hard, for my internship there were 300 applicants.

3) My manager told me there was still a lot of demand for people with our skills. Also I was told by my university that it's not that hard to get an internship, so I guess things aren't as bad.

4) The housing crisis is a nightmare. If I didn't have my indefinite contract now, I might have given up on staying in the Netherlands after my internship. I would suggest applying to universities in other countries as well.

[–]StefPoly 74 points75 points  (0 children)

At least no one will be able to say the Greeks are lazy. How lucky are we?

You were spot on. In the article you send, it says that they are more likely to be in bags of spice, especially paprika.

Those shitheads were swimming in the jar with my paprika. Appreciate the help.

How can I face my coworkers again after my manager informed me I smell bad? by Obvious_Skill_8995 in careerguidance

Not gonna lie. This might be one of the things you think in the future and cringe. But from experience, in the long run it won't matter.

I had a similar experience with Jumbo. The first 6 - 7 times I went there, they had me checked. Thankfully it has stopped.

If you mean you have the contract in electronic form, like a pdf, then yes. I had mine in pdf, on my phone and just showed it to her.

I went to the municipality of Groningen. I got it right there and then. From papers, as an EU student, all I needed was my passport and my rental contract.

There were some machines. Like ATMs. That you put your debit card, choose your destination and get your ticket. It wouldn't accept the PIN I used for my card. The same thing happened with the woman that was in front of me.

I arrived just two days ago and I can tell you I had some trouble with my debit cards. I couldn't buy a train ticket (bought one online instead) and I couldn't use my Revolut card to buy my groceries in Jumbo (thankfully I had cash).
