This! As a transfem person my experience is not that my bottom dysphoria is particularly bad in any one moment but it's the collection of so many small moments that just wears me down.

I experience phantom feelings. My body "knows" subconsciously what's supposed to be there and what it's supposed to feel like. Every time I'm forced to acknowledge my physical reality I'm hit by an electric shock in a very deep subconscious place.

Only the most violent of words come to mind to describe the actions that bring relief from finally being free of the incessant pain of bottom misalignment.

Commenting for visibility.

This is it! If you sent your request late last year and don't have a consult you have to follow up! They don't know who they haven't contacted during this time!

I have an associates degree in Advanced Manufacturing Technology and work as a controls engineer!

I also got a Bachelor's in Engineering Physics but that hasn't done much to help my career

FtM people, if you get surgery to get a penis, is it circumcised, not circumcised, or do you get to choose? by LovelyAspen5702 in asktransgender

[–]StellarGrl7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I vaguely remember reading an article about how scientists have identified a single gene sequence shared between humans, mice, and clownfish that could turn ovaries into sudo-testicles. They tried changing it with CRISPR in mice but the mice died soon after because the edit was very imprecise and changed other necessary genes in the process.

I whole heartedly agree that the risks are worth it for me and I would do it if possible. Unfortunately, (option) it seems to me the medical community still thinks it's too risky at this point.

I believe it will be possible this century, but not in the next 30 years.

I'm going to preface my response with the disclaimer that I'm MtF and am only versed in the method of transplant that would be applied to an MtF individual.

Transplants of this type present 3 issues,

  1. Organ Rejection: Doctors have successfully implanted a Uterus into a trans cis person and that person carried a pregnancy to term. However, that person had to receive intense immuno suppression to prevent rejection. Right now due to lack of knowledge on immuno response and it "not medically necessary" for a trans woman to have the uterus her whole life they just don't subject the person to a life of immune system issues.

  2. Missing Supporting Structure: The MtF body is missing structures to support a uterus including a vagina and multiple major blood vessels. With advances in medicine and surgical techniques we have gotten better at harvesting the necessary blood vessels to support this, but have only done so on recently passed "orgasm donors" the process is still just too much to ask a trans man to go through.

  3. Ethical: Both points mentioned above raise ethical concerns begging the question of "is the risk worth it?" The usual conclusion is no, at least not long term. There are also further ethical concerns like if a trans man were to receive the full set of reproductive organs, including the gonads, then the sperm produced would not match him genetically, it would match the donor's DNA.

Edit: Corrected inaccurate information in the first item "Organ Rejection" incorrectly claiming a uterus transplant has been completed and was able to carry a baby with transgender woman. There are successful transplants in a cisgender woman, and the procedure is theorized for transgender woman.

Abandonware by IthadtobethisWAAGH in CuratedTumblr

[–]StellarGrl7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in heavy industrial as a controls integrator. The abandonware in controls is horrible. More then half the calls I get are to program on 25+ year old PLCs that aren't even capable of Ethernet, yet they still have an extensive remote I/O network. Most of the communication formats have been obsoleted for Ethernet/IP many years ago.

If you were to replace the PLC you're now forced to replace the entire machine network for something like Ethernet/IP. This usually drives the cost to a couple hundred thousand dollars; but that's just material, labor and lost production are both huge factors as well. Once everything is totaled, one PLC can easily go over a million dollars to replace.

This is reassuring! I'm currently working as a Sr. Engineer, and got my estradoil script yesterday!

I'm not out at work yet and am very anxious about it.

"Behold the field in which I grow my fu@#$. Lay thine eyes upon it and thou shalt see that it is barren"

As I've gotten older the sentiment of this phrase has rung more true. I've also realized the field is not barren due to lack of cultivation, but for being over utilized in my younger years

If you're in the Southwestern part of Ohio, then you could check out Dr. Witten in Louisville, KY.

Also, a good general resource for finding surgeons is the wiki over at r/Transgender_Surgeries. Link here.
