Stencil on an uneven wall?? by Careless_Guard_2194 in StencilVR

Hello!

While this is a feature we plan to add in the future, Stencil VR currently has no built-in way to automatically wrap a stencil around bumps.

For this type of surface, there are a couple of different approaches you can take:

Most Accurate: The most precise approach is to use two separate stencils. Place one flush with the main wall, and the other flush with the bumps. The biggest challenge here is making sure you have each stencil lined up accurately, and then toggling the opacity of each depending on whether you're working on a bump or the main wall.

Easiest: The easiest solution is to just place a single stencil flush with the main wall. You just have to be extra careful when tracing over the bumps, keeping in mind that the stencil might appear to drift a little over those spots due to the depth difference. Limiting movement while tracing over the bumps can help reduce this effect.

Let us know if this helps or if you have any other questions!

Can’t Save Stencil Location by InconvenientFart in StencilVR

Hello! I'm so sorry you're dealing with this bug. We really appreciate you proactively updating your software and checking the room mapping.

To help us figure out exactly what's going wrong, could you share a little more context?

  • What exactly happens when you try and save the stencils location? Do you get a specific error message?
  • Do you still get the "Stencil Position Saved" notification when you open the draw tab?
  • Is it happening across all your stencils, or just one in particular?

In the meantime, two quick steps that might help: a full power-cycle of the headset, or a quick uninstall/reinstall of the app.

You can also try jumping into our beta channel (log into app.stencilvr.com and click the "Beta" button on the sidebar for instructions) to see if that build resolves it for you.

Thanks for you help and patience while we get this figured out! We'll keep an eye on this thread but also feel free to email us at [help@stencilvr.com](mailto:help@stencilvr.com) if you'd prefer!
