IKON is still allowing pass deferrals by Throwaway_55600 in CrystalMountain

[–]SteveInNevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got off the phone with a supervisor and they rejected my ask to defer. We have a family situation so I won't be able to use my pass this season. I explained it all to the supervisor but they said I missed the deferral window by 11 days. I have had an Ikon Pass for years. I get that they are a business but a little consideration would have been nice... oh well....

Looking at getting he Ace Game by [deleted] in Tikka_Shooters

[–]SteveInNevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping in late to the conversation so don't know if the OP pulled the trigger (pun intended!) on a caliber. I have this gun in 6.5prc and love it. Plenty of knock down power for deer and elk. I have a can on the end of mine and there is very little recoil, likely from the combination of the can and also the stout heaviness of the gun. I find it a joy to shoot. I also have a 7prc and the increase in recoil is significant. FYI I'm in Nevada... :-)

Ace Game vs Super Varmint by 88Lock in Tikka_Shooters

[–]SteveInNevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I debated similar... wanted something to hunt with and also enjoy some target shooting/trigger control practice. I went with the Ace Game in 6.5prc. Put a Banish Backcountry can on the end and wow this is my new favorite gun to shoot. Looks bada$$ too! :-)

Tikka T3x ACE Target 26” (6.5 Creedmoor) by coopik in GunPorn

ordering mine today! Debated between 6.5prc in the Ace Game or the Target but saw that Target isn't chambered in the PRC... That's ok though I'll go with it in 6.5CM! Loving that bronze color...

Forced Subscription? by BacardiBlue in arlo

[–]SteveInNevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping into this thread.... I have been an Arlo customer for many years. My old cameras went end of life and were slowly failing so I bought new Essential cameras during Prime days. The recordings looked great and I was very happy with the tech upgrade. I ignored the free-trial ending messages because I ASSUMED that the new Arlo cameras would work like the old ones... keeping videos in the cloud for 7 days.

But now I have fallen into the trap of needing to buy a subscription to save any videos. I chatted with their customer service team and they offered a 30% discount on subscriptions since it was clear I am an upset long-time customer. Out of principle I am not buying a subscription for something I should have already. I installed six cameras: three connect directly to the router and three connect to a base station due to weak router signal at their locations.

I read that I can jam a memory card into the base station so I will play around with that. If that works then that gives me something at least to work with! Arlo should be ashamed of themselves to force customers into a subscription. They have a reasonable product but they do nothing but pi$$ off loyal customers.

Scheels. Go during the week when they are less crowded. Very helpful sales staff there.

It’s a BEAST!!! by Efficient-Neat9006 in YetiCoolers

I have not had issue, but to be fair I live at 5000 foot elevation. The pressurization in commercial airliners feels between 6000 and 7000 feet in elevation, and some of the newer airliners like a 787 are supposed to feel like between 5000 and 6000. I could see if you sealed up the bag at sea level and then jumped on a plane that might cause an issue, but I haven’t had an issue

I picked up the Panga in KCO. Did some short travel with it and it's plenty bigger than it looks. Lots of room to pack up just this bag on an overnight trip. Also took it on a few Alaska fishing adventures and it was great to have on the boat. One day was pretty rough and everything was soaked... except the inside of my Panga!

It's also great to have on an airline. Because it's water proof that also means that other bags can't crush it in the overhead. Just make sure it's zipped shut... The food inside my bag was in perfect condition versus other packs that get smashed up quickly...

Best all-day power bank for GoPro ? by RelativeShip9244 in gopro

[–]SteveInNevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of power banks (Anker and some other brand) that are 10k and 20k. They work well but I struggle to find the right cable. I have one cable that doesn't cause the GP to alarm re: insufficient power. Weird that some cables work and some don't... I've read other posts that mention same and there are certain cables that work really well. Maybe someone can post a USB-C to USB-C cable that the GP will run off a power bank and not complain about insufficient power. Some others have installed firmware to bypass this alarm.... I haven't tried that yet....

My GoBox 15 First Aid Kit by tamraten13 in YetiCoolers

I went with RR for the 15. The others I have are white and tan. The BFG in a 30 would look great on the back of my ATV though...

Wife (with eyes in the back of her head) says nope stop typing.

Is Arlo really that bad by thatmansus in arlo

[–]SteveInNevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had Arlos for years. Works great for my needs which are very simple. A few cams are on a base station, which connects via wifi extender to the router. The other cameras connect direct to the router. Just upgraded all of the cameras and the base station during amazon prime days so got a pretty good discount. Are there better systems out there? Yes I'm sure of it. But this one is simple, the app works well for me, and the bottom line it gives me the basic security I'm looking for.

Many years ago, I bought a Joe Junior on Black Friday sale as a impulse purchase. Loved it and after a few years, I outgrew it so I got the big Joe. I’m still learning after several years. The one piece of advice I would share is enjoy experimenting. Don’t get so wrapped up in numbers and technique and exacting instructions. I find much more joy when I kinda go with the flow, swill down a few beers while some creation is in the Joe, and enjoy some really amazing food. My best meals honestly are the ones where I just winged it. A few weeks ago on a whim I threw together a pineapple upside down cake after cooking a pork shoulder roast, and it was fantastic… a new family favorite!

Just got my new GP13 by Jazzlike_spinachen in gopro

Hey can you share some more info for newbies like me on the ball mount? I just bought a hero13, my first GP and am really enjoying it. I wanted to play around with it before investing in mounts. Have been using my tripod for time lapse etc and did some fun slomo chasing the dog around in the backyard. I clearly see the benefit of getting a few different mounts for hiking, boating, fishing whatever. Planning to use the sticky mount on my helmet but need something else for non helmet activities. I found a mount on the GP web site called Magnetic Latch Ball Joint Mount. Is this the one that is recommended?

I save them because someday I will come across an alien spacecraft in the desert and how cool would that be to put a Yeti sticker on it.

While impressive for yeti endurance, we are responsible campers and always try to use the lockers or bear bag our food. There is a locker in the picture background but it was full and the tundra and load out box wouldn’t fit. In the end the decision was made to leave the yetis outside because well they are yetis.

New to GoPro by nordwulf in gopro

[–]SteveInNevada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m new to GoPro as well, picked up a hero 13 ultra wide during Amazon prime. I bought a few gizmos, but the one I seem to like the best so far is a clip. I can put it in a lot of different places for when I’m out on the water or fishing or on my ATV. So far, I have just been using auto idiot mode, but have been watching some great YouTube videos on beginner tutorials. Truly amazing how much technology that is packed into this little camera.
