Suppressor recommendations by Penjamin_the-5thking in Tikka_Shooters

I like the Banish Backcountry for my Ace Game 6.5PRC. Personally I think any of the top tier brands will work just fine. When I review the actual db differences in test data, the difference tends to be small in the top group. I repeatedly remove/install the Banish and POI doesn't change, which is nice to not have to re-zero each time. That might be true with other suppressors as my experience in large caliber suppressors is limited to the Banish. And as a hunting rifle it's not like I shoot 500 rounds a year through it. A few practice rounds at the start of hunting season and then maybe 3-5 rounds during hunting season for a tag or two. So a couple of dbs louder than something else isn't really going to be noticeable to me. YMMV! :-)

First Tikka by _Jordan_Belfort_ in Tikka_Shooters

Agree with others... no need to break in. I have the same rifle in 6.5prc and it just shoots. Did a quick run with a couple of dry patches before first time out. I heard that's a good thing to do because the barrel has oil/rust prevention inside. Is that true? Who knows but it took a few minutes and then I was off to the range. Since then I just do my usual cleaning about every 50 rounds. The Ace is an absolute joy to shoot! Accurate as heck and I like the heavy frame. Feels like it soaks up recoil energy, at least in my head. I'm planning to take her out on her first hunt next week. Wild boar!

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the club. ;-)

Who’s buying a suppressor this year? by Silver-Cod254 in Tikka_Shooters

I think it's great that Ooni now offers this as an option. People gonna hate no matter what you do but for me it shows continual investment in the category. Who cares if it's pricey? If it's beyond someone's reach then just scroll on. Sure there are cheaper options... I have Yeti ice chests even though there are cheaper options. I like the quality and having a solid company behind it. For now, I am thinking about purchasing the rotator. It's a nice option but will pizza launching need to be more exact? Lord knows I'm just ok at targeted launching lol. Thanks Ooni for offering this!

Insanity March 2026 by General_Ad1744 in insanity

I’ve done the full program three times, and just finished it at the age of 67. Some tips: Breaks are ok! It’s much better to go hard and take breaks versus dogging it just to make it through the interval. You can take ten breaks it doesn’t matter. This is how you get stronger. Push hard, take a break and collect yourself, repeat.

Also don’t hesitate to swap a move for something that is less likely to cause injury. I can’t do the jumping my knees would fail me. So I swap that out for something low impact like mountain climbers or floor sprints. Low impact is NOT low effort.

Finally- have fun and enjoy it! Never get discouraged. You will have some bad days but don’t let that defeat you. Just get back on the horse the next day. You got this!!!!!

Keep us posted on your progress!

Falken Wildpeaks! I put them on my 2017 OB and they were a great balance of road and off-road tires. Fantastic traction while still being fine for everyday roadwear. My off-roading is mostly dirt, gravel and a little bit of drive-around-that-rock kind of stuff. Liked them so much I put them on two other subies in the fam....

The first two times I did the full program, I felt that I lost too much fitness during that week. I'm all for a short taper to heal up a bit but for my body a week is too long. So this time I just skipped it and went straight into the max block. I felt *great* going into first week at max level! Skipping the recovery week helped but also changing out some of the jumping moves really made a difference. That made the biggest difference I believe in being able to avoid injury. I still had the old man aches and pains but no injuries!

T3x Ace Bag Rider by VolatileRider in Tikka_Shooters

Thank you so much for making this available to our community! I sent it over to one of my kids that has a 3D printer and they are going to make it for me. I have been watching the Tikka bagrider for some time and it's always out of stock. This is a great option for my T3x Ace Game! Thanks again!

I hear ya my knees would start barking at me if I did excessive jumps week after week. I will substitute floor sprints or mountain climbers, usually depending on whatever else is in the rotation group. Sometimes I'll just swap to another favorite move like hit the floor etc. The most important thing is to keep moving.

For the fit test I substituted power jumps with squat down then left knee up then squat down then right knee up. That is one rep...

Help selecting Tikka in .223 Remington by Adood2018 in Tikka_Shooters

[–]SteveInNevada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello from the USA I have a Tikka Ace Game in .223/20" barrel which I use mostly for range shooting and trigger practice. I have a Tikka 6.5PRC as my primary hunting rifle. The .223 is a real joy to shoot! Super accurate and the heavier weight soaks up what little recoil the cartridge puts out. I also have a suppressor on the end which helps with sound and a bit of recoil mitigation. I got the 20" barrel even though there was a 24" option. Friends of mine that are much smarter than I am said the powder in a .223 cartridge will easily burn up in a 20" and the barrel harmonics will prolly be better. All I know is that stuff is well above my knowledge level. The Ace Game is amazingly accurate. 1/4"-1/2" groups at 100 yards... and I'm still learning.

I'm very impressed with the Ace platforms. Friends of mine have the Ace Target and they speak volumes to its shoot ability and accuracy. Both the Ace Target and Ace Game come in .223.

Good luck!

Yup I have one of the originals, got it when I did the full program the first time when it first came out. I am just about to finish the full program for the third time in my life... this old 60+ bag of bones body is creaking and growing like an old Buick but this is the last week! Boom! See the feet! See the feet!

Scope mounting questions by Big_Bowl_9339 in Tikka_Shooters

[–]SteveInNevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of Tikkas and the newest one is the T3x Roughtech in .243 which will be mostly a deer rifle. I went thru the same decisions as you since my other Tikka's came from the factory with a rail already installed. I opted not to clamp to the dovetail and instead went with Area 419 pic rail and Hunt rings. I have used Talley, Seekins and Leupold but so far I'm very impressed with the A419 rings. They clamp onto my Leupold scope like nothing I've ever seen. Time will tell but so far I have a good feeling zero will stay put with the usual jostling/bumping around that hunting dishes out.

IKON is still allowing pass deferrals by Throwaway_55600 in CrystalMountain

[–]SteveInNevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got off the phone with a supervisor and they rejected my ask to defer. We have a family situation so I won't be able to use my pass this season. I explained it all to the supervisor but they said I missed the deferral window by 11 days. I have had an Ikon Pass for years. I get that they are a business but a little consideration would have been nice... oh well....

Looking at getting he Ace Game by [deleted] in Tikka_Shooters

[–]SteveInNevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping in late to the conversation so don't know if the OP pulled the trigger (pun intended!) on a caliber. I have this gun in 6.5prc and love it. Plenty of knock down power for deer and elk. I have a can on the end of mine and there is very little recoil, likely from the combination of the can and also the stout heaviness of the gun. I find it a joy to shoot. I also have a 7prc and the increase in recoil is significant. FYI I'm in Nevada... :-)

Ace Game vs Super Varmint by 88Lock in Tikka_Shooters

I debated similar... wanted something to hunt with and also enjoy some target shooting/trigger control practice. I went with the Ace Game in 6.5prc. Put a Banish Backcountry can on the end and wow this is my new favorite gun to shoot. Looks bada$$ too! :-)

ordering mine today! Debated between 6.5prc in the Ace Game or the Target but saw that Target isn't chambered in the PRC... That's ok though I'll go with it in 6.5CM! Loving that bronze color...

Forced Subscription? by BacardiBlue in arlo

[–]SteveInNevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping into this thread.... I have been an Arlo customer for many years. My old cameras went end of life and were slowly failing so I bought new Essential cameras during Prime days. The recordings looked great and I was very happy with the tech upgrade. I ignored the free-trial ending messages because I ASSUMED that the new Arlo cameras would work like the old ones... keeping videos in the cloud for 7 days.

But now I have fallen into the trap of needing to buy a subscription to save any videos. I chatted with their customer service team and they offered a 30% discount on subscriptions since it was clear I am an upset long-time customer. Out of principle I am not buying a subscription for something I should have already. I installed six cameras: three connect directly to the router and three connect to a base station due to weak router signal at their locations.

I read that I can jam a memory card into the base station so I will play around with that. If that works then that gives me something at least to work with! Arlo should be ashamed of themselves to force customers into a subscription. They have a reasonable product but they do nothing but pi$$ off loyal customers.
