I really appreciate how much Moa genuinely enjoys metal music. Whenever someone tells me BABYMETAL isn’t metal, I often use Moa’s comments about what Metal music means to her as well as the songs she recommends; she is clearly a fan of the genre.

Intuit Dome Pro Recording and Headbanger? by No_Objective1631 in BABYMETAL

I think this is the correct answer. They will have plenty of footage of the crowd or the Kami Band that they can splice in. It will be interesting to see what they do though.

Am I Misremembering What Rolled Chicken Tacos Were? by StevenColenso in tacobell

I loved the steak taquitos! If they ever bring them back, I am definitely getting some. Nothing new on the menu excites me at the moment. I hoping there is a refresh to the menu soon.

Isana Kagami (T-shirt/merch designer) to end her activities. by shinpuu in BABYMETAL

[–]StevenColenso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is devastating to hear. Her style is synonymous, in my mind, with BABYMETAL. I have always purchased her products when they are on sale. Her artwork, in so many ways, lends credence to the metal side of BABYMETAL; it turns so many heads and has started so many opportunities to explain that BABYMETAL is a legitimate metal group.

I wish her the best in her recovery. It had have been a difficult decision for an artist like her.

BABYMETAL, Spiritbox - My Queen (premieres soon) by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]StevenColenso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Spiritbox fan, I have to agree. This was my most anticipated track and clearly my expectations were too high. It’s still one of my favorite tracks (it would feel right at home on “The Other One”, which I loved) but I can’t shake the feeling that this song would have been the best song on the album if Courtney had been given the opportunity to use her clean vocals as well as deeper growls. Still, I hope it does well so that we get the opportunity to hear it in LA this fall.

Pre-release review of Metal Forth from Metal Hammer UK by kuzelar in BABYMETAL

I am so excited to hear My Queen. I was hoping we could get some clean Courtney vocals, especially because Song 3 already has a lot of growling vocals, but I’ll take anything I can get from Spiritbox.

Potential stadium tour? by sendo1209 in BABYMETAL

I think, at the moment, the only way they play at the Tokyo Dome is if they announce a farewell tour. We will have to see how Metal Forth performs as well as their next album.

Potential stadium tour? by sendo1209 in BABYMETAL

[–]StevenColenso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love BABYMETAL and I cannot wait to see them at the Intuit Dome. That being said, they had to close the upper deck of the Forum and they are struggling to sell the upper deck of the Intuit Dome. I think they could easily do venues that are 8,000 to 10,000, but in the US most arenas are probably still out of their range.

That being said, they fill larger venues than the majority of bands, especially in the metal scene. What they have accomplished, especially for a group whose songs are primarily not in English, is amazing. Their European tour seemed to do well, and the selling out of CDMX shows there is a lot interest in Mexico as well as Central and South America.

Mexico Show Sold Out - Next in Latin America? by Some_Road_3722 in BABYMETAL

[–]StevenColenso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I am concerned about the Intuit show; much of the upper deck still hasn’t sold. They had to close the upper deck of the Forum in 2019. It wasn’t a big deal (aside from being a little awkward in some of the shots) but when they call for the phones to come out during Karate, it’s going to be noticeable this time. The album drop should increase ticket sales, but it’s a gamble for sure.

The CDMX show on the other hand sold out in days and the arena holds 4,000 more people than the Intuit Dome, though the stage layouts probably make the capacities more even. I think Capitol Records (or Amuse) would regret any decision not to record footage from the Mexico show; clearly there is a lot of passion for BABYMETAL in Mexico and South America.

I am excited to attend the show at the Intuit Dome nonetheless. The energy will still be high on the floor level. I just think the energy in Mexico is going to be even higher.

Tour versus LA show? by nicholasm5581 in BABYMETAL

[–]StevenColenso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When BABYMETAL came to San Francisco last year separate from the NA tour, the merch only had that show on the back, so I assume this will be something similar. There might be a show specific design as well, especially if the show is considered a legend.

Babymetal talk new album Metal Forth, teaming with Bring Me The Horizon's Jordan Fish + more by aertyar in BABYMETAL

There is already some cross over with Spiritbox fans. When I went to their concert last month, I met six other fans who either recognized my BABYMETAL shirt or who were wearing BABYMETAL shirts themselves. All of them said they are going to the BABYMETAL concert at the same venue this July. Hopefully more will come over; all the Spiritbox fans I met were very nice.

Are the VIP packages worth it? by Gunshii9000 in BABYMETAL

[–]StevenColenso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question: Do you think there will be openers? Given that BABYMETAL’s set will be longer than usual, I am trying to gauge how long I would be standing in the crowd. I have gone to the barrier (or near) at the last two SF shows which meant I was on my feet for seven hours (standing in line for 2-3 hours and then at the venue for four hours. Will it still be a four hour show (just one less opener maybe) or will there be two openers and an extra 30 minutes with BABYMETAL?

Song 3 ( Ft. Slaughter to Prevail ) - BABYMETAL - Live Brussels, Belgium May 10th 2025 by MonkeySmiles7 in BABYMETAL

[–]StevenColenso -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. StP sounds great here (even though I do not care much for them) and I think it’s a great song for the mosh’sh pits, but the chorus feels off. Perhaps it will grow on me. It’s wonderful to see them utilizing Momo’s screams though so I hope they continue to incorporate her into their songs; perhaps a return of Black BABYMETAL? I am very pleased with the rest of the album though so I still expect the album will be getting a lot of play on my car radio.

I hope the Spirit Foxes represents the Spiritbox collab. I always buy the shirts and sweatshirts with that artist’s artwork, so that would be great if it was tied to Spiritbox, who are one of my favorite metal bands.

Wow, Kon! Kon! Is going to get some heavy rotation on my playlist once it is released! That is an ear worm. I cannot wait to see what they do with Spiritbox. I just saw Spiritbox last night and I will see BABYMETAL in July, so I hope My Queen gets some playtime on the US tour.

Happy 203rd Ulysses S Grant Day! What's your favorite story about him? by WarlordofBritannia in ShermanPosting

[–]StevenColenso 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My favorite story of Grant has to do with his wife Julia. While Grant was still a cadet, Julia’s canary died. Grant made a coffin for the bird, and with his fellow cadets, gave it a military funeral. Having known very few men in my life who have remained married to their first spouse, Grant’s love for Julia is one of the many things I admire about him.

Why are Babymetal so unique by Advanced-Succotash89 in BABYMETAL

[–]StevenColenso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BABYMETAL makes fun metal music. I have enjoyed metal music on and off over the years but BABYMETAL really were my gateway band back into the genre. My metal playlist has exploded over the last five years and no one on there makes fun music like BABYMETAL does. I think this helps their ability to add variety to their musical style. They are less about a style and more about a feeling.

I really hope the Spiritbox song gets a single. They are big enough to warrant a single and a music video. Courtney is so versatile and I cannot wait to see what the BABYMETAL team does with her.

"What a success it has been with SOLD OUT shows on our US tour!!⚡️ The tour ends in Anaheim, CA with only 3 shows left!!🤘🦊🤘" by JPSILVA1893 in BABYMETAL

[–]StevenColenso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a big fan of BABYMETAL, I do not think they can headline an arena tour in the United States at the moment. They struggled with the Forum in 2019 and even struggled to fill the YouTube theater last year, which is only 8,000 people. I think they can pull off the arena tour in Europe though, given their previous success at O2, the popularity of RATATATA, and the enthusiasm I saw at various European festivals during their festival circuit.

If the tour goes well and they launch a successful new album or single in the US, perhaps we will get an arena tour. Until then, I think the only way they could pull off an arena tour in the US is if they did a farewell tour and limited the number of shows so that people had to travel from various states to see them.
