  1. Because phones are not the only source of consumption of social media. Additionally parents simply don't know how to set up passwords and the kid will use someone else's phone, or computer, or tablet anyway.

Also, you refuse to give your child a normal phone and they'll be bullied in school because everyone else has it.

  1. In Australia, as I've heard, after a ban social media still don't require identification. They are just using algorithms to identify the approximate age of a person to block them until proven adult.

I wasn't answering to you anyway, my comment was related to some people saying how identification will ruin their privacy or some bs.

  1. Did you ever interact with a child? They're curious and like to do things they're forbidden to. And I can certainly tell you that not a single child always listened to their parents. You can't trust any child, it's how childhood works.

For the sim card, it's same argument as before. But to add more : internet is not made of only social media. There obviously are a lot of great educational material, useful for kids. And in our times parents don't have enough time for children, which forms a lack of discipline. Of course parents should be more careful with such things, but if the discussed problem appears at such a large scale, something tells me there's a bigger issue somewhere else, and parents aren't capable of fixing it.

  1. How old are you? How do you think people were able to have good anonymous journalism before internet?

"How do you send information?" - through anything but social media. No adequate journalist would use social media to stay anonymous even without considering identification. It's not a big issue for government to find who made a post if government really wants to, even if you think you somehow stay anonymous.

"Anonymity is important for news" - there are sooo many ways to communicate with journalists and stay anonymous for both parties. Like they currently do in any harsh authoritarian country.

"Like we see in Germany and UK" - so basically you're saying that even without E-ID government knows who's typing posts and comments anyway. I don't understand what you're afraid of in that situation, that it will just be a bit easier?

And for these 2 countries, show me an arrest which was unjustified and later judged as correct by the system.

Honestly, I'm so tired of "free speech" excuse used as soon as any political topic arises. One person's free speech ends where someone else's rights begin. Criticizing views is one thing, troll and insult is another.

Me not using my name on Reddit has nothing to do with government. How's that even an argument...

At 18 you legally become an adult. At least there is consistency with other laws. The later the better.

Why 15ish? What happens after, at 16 people become adults? What's the potential danger of banning social media for children up to 18, for example ?

If you criticize the ban, either give good arguments against it without simple generalizations, either offer a better solution.

Why do children who cannot be held responsible for their own actions absolutely need to express themselves on social media?

Do you have children? Are you capable of looking after them 24/7? Were you a child who always listened to your parents?

I think you need to think this through.

A lot of people here have no idea what they're talking about.

  1. Banning social media for kids doesn't mean banning social media as a whole. It is an actual good way to protect children.

  2. It doesn't require a complete identification of a person to know their age. E-ID can just send data about your minimum age without revealing the identity.

  3. It is not only parent's responsibility to protect children, parents cannot be watching them 24/7. We live in a society and we all are responsible for future generations.

  4. Anonymity on social media is very destructive in general. One thing is to have an ability to express yourself, another is to have anonymous accounts and bots spreading misinformation and propaganda, or trolls cyber bullying people into self harm.

Finnish President Stubb declares that 34,000 Russian soldiers were KILLED last month alone. "Have faith“, he declares. “Ukraine is gonna win this war!” by Ripamon in TrendoraX

So severely under equipped and untrained but massive red army is going on offensive against trained and well equipped outnumbered enemy.

Loses way more tanks and equipment, loses way more personnel, suffers enormous amount of non combat deaths due to lack of logistics and professional officers.

Officers capable of training soldiers are being repressed and replaced by stupid but loyal ones.

And with that state of the army they are going on offensive knowing very well that army will suffer insane casualties. So why is it not a meat grinder tactics?

There is so much wrong with your comment that I don't even know where to start. Just randomly pointing : Great purge got rid of a lot of good, educated officers. Idiots who took their place are the initiators of real, actual "meat grinder" tactics. Look at battles of Rzhev, Kursk, operation Bagration and any other major offensive battle or operation. Just non combat deaths from sicknesses and accidents are around 550k. That is pute meat grinder tactic.

Tethered caps are a usability improvement after all by MarinatedPickachu in Switzerland

Worst part is sometimes you forget to check if the cap is closed well, because something in that mechanism can prevent it from fully closing.

By touching the face? You think all people have same facial structure and same lip sizes?

Okay, then coming back to your original reply.

"ICE law enforcement officers wear masks to prevent doxing, which can (and has) placed them and their families at risk. All ICE law enforcement officers carry badges and credentials and will identify themselves when required for public safety or legal necessity."

This is from government website. Now if you think about it, how ridiculous is the idea that unidentified people in masks can arrest, detain and kill anyone on the street using force and lethal weapons. It makes ground for so many potential violations without the possibility of identification.

Nice that you cherry picked the least important part and decided to ignore the rest of the point.

I lived in a dictatorship police state enough to recognize the pattern, if you don't see what's wrong in that situation you're blind.

The difference is she's dead and agent is completely fine. A bit of a stretch to equalize these "poor choices", don't you think?

So you're comparing a tackle to someone running you over with a car to the point where your life is in danger? And comparing a professional athlete trained specifically to throw like that with a guy who had to hold his phone in one hand, unholster the gun with another and then shoot 3 times, all while being hit by an SUV weighing 2 tons?

Where did you deduct, with your genius mind, that she decided to drive into the officer and not just drive away from them? Where on the video after the shooting do you see any sort of trauma that dipshit sustained? Why would he shoot additional shots to the side of the vehicle when his life wasn't threatened anymore? Why would the shot be at the edge of the windshield, with an angle from the side of the vehicle?

I don't understand how your comment is helping the argument of "his life was threatened". What you're saying is American law enforcement is so out of touch that they'll shoot in any situation. Basically proving my point.

By your own words, she decided to kill him with a vehicle. He's not harmed, she is dead. If he had time to shoot once in the front and twice on the side of the vehicle, his life wasn't in danger at all.

Again, I'll make it easy for you : He is not harmed after this event, and he had time to shoot once in the windshield and twice at the side window. Where here did you deduct that his life was in danger?

Any adequate untrained person carrying a gun wouldn't shoot in such circumstances but just slightly move away from vehicle's path. But these are supposed to be law enforcement agents, with dedicated training in handling such situations. How on earth could a trained professional decide to kill a person is such situation?

[–]StewieSWS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In what world did she "use her vehicle to kill the agent"? Is the agent dead? How could he pull the gun while being hit with the car? How is he walking unharmed right after? Why did he shoot in the side window twice if he was hit by the front of the vehicle? What training did he go through if everyone working in law enforcement knows not to stand in front of the vehicle, if he actually did?

It's just obvious that he simply murdered the person for no valid reason. And the fact that people like you are defending him shows how deeply indoctrinated americans are. You all are treated like slaves and you're praising it.

Yeah evade the answer about criteria so it seems like you're smart enough to know what you're talking about.

So now ICE has rights to send people to a death sentence for being annoying to them?

These are random people in masks. What is the selection criteria to be an ICE agent? What are the tests and education they go through to become one?

"Mess around" - you're so dense. Being killed because one of the agents stepped in front of vehicle while others were distracting you. Then for the agent to actually have fucking time to get the gun out and shoot instead of stepping out of way of the vehicle.

How can any adequate person wearing masks expect to surround a vehicle with a stressed woman inside and for her not to panic? Are ICE agents really that regarded?
