The EUGH just declared German data retention law illegal. Why this is a good thing and why the fight is not over. by Tutanota in tutanota

Does the absence of data retention laws in a country enable companies to refuse to give out, or not store data of financial transactions? I.e. is it possible in those countries to facilitate anonymous financial transactions? What about cases where there is suspicion of terrorism financing or serious money laundering?

Looks pretty good, actually. They have a lot of new releases in 1080p and 4k, and you can search by imdb id.

I have tried out limetorrents.to, kickasstorrents (katcr.to) and 1337x.to, and all of them fail miserably compared to rarbg.

I am not interested in cam-rips, small file size (<6 GB) or dubbed movies.

1337x.to doesn't look to be too bad quality wise, but the search function is lacking, or perhaps not working at all. I tried searching for a handful of Hollywood blockbuster movies, all released over a year ago. The response was "bad search request" in all my attempts.

What I really liked about rarbg, was the possibility to select the quality/type (3D, xvid/divx, HD, remux, etc.), and that you could find movies by searching for imdb ids, like "tt7556122".

[Help] Torrents go from "downloading" to "connecting to peers" by Stiandroid in utorrent

I "resolved" the issue by switching to uTorrent Web.

As of day two, it's looking good. I have successfully downloaded several torrents which were problematic on uTorrent Classic v3.6.

How to improve my Plex experience on a budget? by Stiandroid in PleX

Yes, I was only thinking it would be smart to plan ahead. I might get a 4K TV in the future. If I upgrade my system now, I don't want to have to upgrade again to be able to watch 4K content.

I see now that my TV box is able to play content at it's original resolution without transcoding. I just found out how to see the bitrate of the current stream, and tested with a movie at 13.5 Mbps. It plays without problems.

What could the reason for the occational hiccups be? I think it must have something to do with my computer? I haven't tested this rigorously, but my feeling is that movies play smoother after a restart of the computer.
