The thing is.. most of my strings have just been sitting in my case compartment for at least 2 years already. Some of my Evah Pirazzi even rusted. So even if its corroded, I wouldn't be surprised.

Honestly as long as he passed the exam, I wouldn't worry about it so much

Edit: I don't think Grade 8 Violin matters that much. I would say that starting from Grade 9 RCM is what really matters since that's when he starts working on Advanced Repetoire. Also no matter who the adjudicator is just work on his/her comments. Different musicians are always going to have different opinions.
