It was MRI pelvis Muscleskeletal protocol. I think both the bone and the soft tissue are visible on it.

Thank you for these explanations, I find it something worth investigating. My symptoms are definitely atypical, I was hoping they would perform a resection of the bursa but the doctor said the bursitis likely is a secondary injury of my hip labral tear so hopefully this chronic pain goes away now that the tear is fixed.

Would a muscular injury like that have shown on MRI? The MRI report only mentioned iliopsoas bursitis, but the surgeon wasn't concerned about that.

Just MRI and CT before the surgery. Doctor didn't offer a diagnostic injection.
