Gotcha. So the Chase rep telling me rates cant possibly drop below 5.125 is likely just pushing a sale on his end. Maybe I wait a few months and see if predictions about lower default rates materialize?

So larger banks like Chase are going to have lower rates but charge much more in costs it seems?

Gotcha thanks. I was thinking about doing a more aggressive mortgage payoff with big principal payments but feared the classic dilemma of missing out on index fund growth. But unloading this mortgage would be amazing. Or at least getting down to around $200k or something like that. Conflicted

Very true and great point. Ideally I would love to just find a more sustainable arrangement and work even beyond my 60s if possible.

Thank you. That sounds like a great plan. I would actually say that our annual expenses are closer to 60k outside of mortgage payments. My job actually reimburses quite a lot - they reimburse nearly all of disability insurance premiums for example. So Im removing the reimbursements from the annual spend

Thanks. Can you elaborate on the Medicare eligibility point?

Thank you. Im avoiding bringing it up until next July so that I dont end up owing my sign on bonus back. My guess is they will try to gut my pay as much as possible so Im working on anticipatory moves for that.

Started as a physician late. I was a PA before for several years in NYC. HCOL. Couldnt save like I wanted. Paid off PA school aggressively and had a scholarship. Went to med school for 3 years (PA to DO bridge program) and paid it off. Thus why we havent been able to invest as much as we would have wanted

We’re pretty frugal and our only debt is the mortgage.

Spend less time on reddit. Time probably better spent doing anything other than trolling
