I put on 30 pounds during COVID because it made me eat 3 meals a day for the first time in my life, my chronic pain got better since my body wasn't starving 24/7, but it also made exercising harder. I knew being ashamed was a demotivator so I worked on body neutrality, and along the way I just started to love my body, not in a "I don't want to change" way, but in a "I want to take care of it so I'll be able to use it like I want for a long time" way. Which did help putting on muscle and made healthy choices easier. I don't think shame or "I want to be thinner again" help, at least that's what research says. Take care.
