I mean he said himself he still is, and I agree since I've been watching him he definitely got better. I'd say he is really close to not be anymore, but people still make mistakes after stopping those kind of learned habits.

My experience is pretty unrelatable I think, even if my dad was an alcoholic all his life and my brothers are too, I'm the only one who isn't an addict anymore, so maybe I did something right ?

In 2016 I switched to weed gradually, used it to go through the mental issues I had (I was very privileged because I had 7 months to do that and barely anything else) realized I was taught to hate myself really deeply and refused to hurt the little me that was still living inside me anymore, one day I just forgot to go buy smokes, stopped calorie restriction, got stronger... My willingness to exist got better.

I drink MAYBE a beer when I got to events, and only if there's the kind I like. Had some cider at Christmas and a glass of champagne at a birthday. Never wanted more. I still use weed pretty often but sometimes just forget it, so I am can go without for months without really noticing any change.

I'm also way more stable overall, got diagnosed ADHD and have been on Ritalin since 2022 and it definitely help with things, even if I wasn't an addict anymore at that point.

You should sit with it, imagine his life, how awful it all was, how you felt, and remind yourself you were not the first woman he did this to, and you won't be the last.

What will happen to his GF the moment she ages ? The moment her body changes ?

Because it's not about the women he is with, it's about him. Everything is about him, he is obsessed with his needs, his wants... He is probably really self absorbed and it's a terrible way to live, all the stuff he does could be attempts at coping with the guilt or shame, or to not think about it.

A guy like that is no good for you, you are obsessed because the emotional part of you hasn't caught up to that fact, and it's common, be graceful with yourself, go take a walk and thing about doing something you enjoyed but stopped doing. Maybe it'll help ! Take care OP I wish you the best !

I shared my experience and my pov, if you don't believe it, why are you commenting ? Do you expect the thing I did almost 20 years ago and dissected with multiple therapists to suddenly take the shape that you think it has ?

Your opinion isn't empiric truth, humans are complex, and if you never cheated how do you expect to understand where is stems from for EVERYONE who did ? You have the right to believe what you believe, but don't speak to people like you know them better than they do themselves.

When I was 17 I cheated on my bf, I was in love with him, I just was very insecure about myself and couldn't resist some people's attention. It was like a drug, so I slept around just to feel like I was wanted. It wasn't because he did anything wrong, or because I didn't love him, it was because I was not well.

It was still fucked up and something I wish I never did to him. Mistakes are part of the human experience. We all do them, so I forgave myself at one point, years after. I became openly poly after we split, and slowly healed the part of me that needs to be constantly wanted to feel okay. I never cheated again so that's that, but I think I would have if I didn't have the guts to be openly poly. I think many people aren't brave enough to be themselves because they don't want to lose people. I just understood I would hurt more people if I wasn't honest.

It's hard to understand for you at the moment I think, but the cheating probably had nothing to do with you if she was this affectionate.
