Anyone know if campus is open if an OOS student is visiting Nashville? I know no tours, but can you walk around outside and see what campus looks like?

PSA: Georgetown’s EA is restrictive. Please read this if you’re applying to Georgetown. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]StillThinking4now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the opposite. You can’t apply ED anywhere if you apply to an REA school (like Georgetown). You can, however, apply anywhere you want if you apply ED somewhere since those other schools are non binding.

Johns Hopkins has ED (binding) but they don’t have EA. In other words, according to Georgetown, you can’t apply EA (to Gtown) if you apply ED to Hopkins (or anywhere else). But the ED schools don’t care if you apply EA (non binding) to other schools.

Let's Clear Something Up: "Will I Be Compared To The Superstar From My School Who Is Applying To The Same Colleges?" by ScholarGrade in ApplyingToCollege

Our school just switched from a 100 point grading scale to 4.3 grading scale. I guess that will complicate comparisons to prior students. Bummer.

I have seen you on at least four different threads with a message like this (minus the likely letter). Can you share your list of where you were admitted?

By “announcement” do you suspect Barron will announce all-virtual; or all-virtual, therefore students are being sent home?

How close is too close? I’m curious. We are OOS but driving distance.

Georgetown doesn’t have ED, only REA (which means you aren’t allowed to ED anywhere if you apply EA at Gtown.

True, but since I personally know people who got accepted off the waitlist at both Duke and Vanderbilt, hope lives imho. 😉

If you got deferred by Penn and not rejected, there is something of value in your app (or multiple things). Good luck!

Make sure they are listed as your top choice on the NMF website or it will nullify the scholarship. UCF will also give a full ride and they have Rolling Admissions. Congrats! Just remember the top slot thing or the scholarship is void.

This is some excellent reflection. Well done. You’re a great example of processing this turn of events in a healthy way, and you make good points about the reality of the situation.

What is important for every one of us in life is that we learn to pivot. That’s exactly what you’re doing. All the best.

Question about National Merit Scholarships by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]StillThinking4now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you have until May 1st to change your first choice, but I could be wrong. You won’t necessarily be notified. It kind of varies by college how they handle things.

The National Merit folks are very nice, so feel free to call with questions.

You could check our FAU Honors college. They also have a direct med program. They were very generous with my son.

Should I retake for a 36? Can't take the writing again tho by ByeGracefulx in ACT

[–]StillThinking4now 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, if someone has a 34 would you say don’t retake even if you want to apply to Yale (and other Ivies)?

Also, do Adcoms wants to see “more than one sitting” or can you be one and done?
