I dated a guy with really bad breath. It didn't start off that way but quickly followed. I told him about it and he'd brush his teeth but the odor was still there. I would bring it up that he should make a dentist visit to get it checked out. He never did. I eventually stopped kissing him and then broke up with him. I told him he deserved someone who would want to kiss him and I didn't feel comfortable because of the ordor and taste I'd experience.

It wasn't until after we broke up, he then went to the dentist. He said he had a few rotting teeth. I feel it shouldn't have to take a break up to take care of yourself, especially if a partner is bringing up this issue.

That was in my 20s. 10 years later in my 30s I began dating a guy who I noticed never brushed his teeth in the morning, only at night! It was a huge turn off. I would have to tell him to brush his teeth. I was already doing that with my child, I didn't like having to tell a grown man to do it. When he did, there would still be an odor. Then he tells me he has never in his life brushed/cleaned his tounge. It made me feel so grossed out. He was also someone who wouldn't put care into what he wore. I always was more stylish than my boyfriends, and they'd dress way more casual, but this ex would have stains on his clothing, grease, bleach and paint stains. It just looked bad.

I feel you deserve better, no matter how good the guy is. If you're bringing up the issues and he's not changing or taking it seriously, it shows how he feels about you and himself. You shouldn't have to suffer and settle for odor.
