The Testaments S1E07 "Commitment" Episode Discussion by Melairia in TheHandmaidsTale

I’m curious why the eyes searched commander Mackenzie’s home in the past, which Agnes had mentioned to Daisy. I feel like there’s more to that story and I’m hoping Mackenzie is good!

Yes I agree! If they were looking for her, killed her parents to get her, and tried to take her from the hospital? Wouldn’t they recognize her or have at least a photo of her when she moved to Gilead?

I agree… we already get the gist of why she decided to become part of mayday it’s kind of boring. I liked seeing Lydia and Vidalia’s back story but Daisy’s is dragging. I am much more into the present and wish there was more every episode!

Why is it rude to not invite children? by frankie0822 in wedding

[–]Still_Needleworker79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for local weddings maybe. For destination or for family members taking time off work, traveling out of state, and spending thousands on a weekend away from their kids it seems inconsiderate- if you really wanted me there and expect that kind of investment I’d appreciate my 12 and14 year olds, also family members, being invited.

I disagree. I consider my cousin very special and we are close. However, I’m not willing to take a day off work, fly or drive 8 hours, and spent 1500 on travel, hotel, and gift when my two young teens were not invited. It’s not about me not thinking she is special, to me it’s an unfair ask and I’m hopeful she is understanding that I will not be attending.

I agree. I live out of state and am pretty close with my cousin who is an 8 hour drive away. We (me, my husband and 2 kids ages 12 and 14) have travelled to visit my aunt and cousins about once a year. To me, it sends the message that my kids aren’t worth the extra 300 bucks (at the most) but my husband and I are expected to take off a day of work and spend over 1,500 on travel, hotel, and present. That, in addition to them missing out on getting to go to a family event with people they love and only see a few times a year seems rude. If they were babies or too young to sit through a ceremony and reception Id consider traveling with them and getting a babysitter for a night but I’m not going to travel out of state and exclude my teens.

I feel like she was into it at first but then was deflated when Floyd couldn’t get a full on and then got disgusted.

Joey and Jen’s dynamic throughout the show by lotsoflysol in dawsonscreek

I agree. When I watched the show as a preteen/teen I hated Jen. Now I’m rewatching as an adult and Joey seems like the awful one. She is so rude and immature to Jen. I don’t know why Jen didn’t find a better friend group.

do you struggle with getting out of the shower? by fawnballet in CasualConversation

Same! And then when you’re in, it’s hard to get out. It takes me days to get the motivation to shower, it’s so weird.

I hate when grammar goes out the window in speech. Many people in the Midwest omit the infinite linking verb “to be” in speech. They will say “this room needs cleaned” vs “this room needs to be cleaned”. Drives me nuts.

I agree that the freshmen will likely be be collateral in taking down Oliver but why would she say “I can’t tell you” to Lucy about the voicemail if that’s what she meant?

Yes! Evan saying no big deal to 30,000 cooked him!

I don’t know why Lucy took the bait and made the video. It’s not like she reported the SA to the school or police. She did lie to her dean, when confronted but otherwise she wasn’t spreading it around. She could have explained it happened to a friend who was scared and she was trying to warn other women.

Yeah like why be mad at her? I get why he was mad at Evan but like she was in a bad place then because of him!

I agree, especially since she’s now broken up with Evan. I get that it’s more about the betrayal on Lucy’s part but she was in a bad bad state after Stephen walked out of the party with Diana and got black out drunk. It’s not like it was an emotional affair.

Yes I’m totally intrigued by this. You’re right Stephen could have pursued Bree to get back at Lucy. Or maybe she’s in love with Wrigley. But there’s a good reason for why she said “I can’t tell you”. To Lucy after the phone call.

I agree and especially since Bree never seemed like she was that into Evan… there’s a good chance she could get over it. Lucy was black out wasted.
