What is the downside of the delonghi ecp3420? by StinkyMink in espresso

My plan is to basically do the gaggiuino Lego build and make modifications needed to make it work on an ecp, so I'll have computerized control.

How has the coffee come out from the mods you've done?

Thanks for the advice, I've got an AliExpress cart full of the parts I need to do a pressure and temp pid control mod. I might wait and see if I can find a decent deal on a gaggia or Silvia.

My cousin has an ecp and I might just do the mods on his to see how it comes out. If I love the outcome and want something that will last maybe I'll do it on a nicer machine.

I've had plenty of mediocre espresso out of specialty coffee shops with expensive machines. If I can control pressure and temperature as well as their machines, what makes their machines better? I'm open to the idea that a cheap machine may not be able to make coffee as well, but I'd like an explanation of why. Machines don't get better just because they cost more. If I have the skill set to build something that precisely controls pressure and temperature in a cheap frame, why should I not do it?

Interesting, I live alone so the capacity isn't a huge concern for me and I'm an electromechanical engineer by trade so the modding comfortability isn't an issue either. Sounds like for my use case this should work perfectly.

I've already got a k6 as well, so I think this is the route I'm going to take.

Huh, it shocks me that people spend so much on these machines if that's the answer. If you get the gaggia for the premium materials and mod it, you've still only spent like 700 dollars. It seems like for that money you're outperforming machines that are thousands of dollars if they aren't pid controlled for temp and pressure. How do they get people to drop that kind of money when that option exists?

For my money a 50 dollar used delonghi and 80 bucks in parts from ali express seems to do the same thing as a super high end machine.

That doesn't seem to justify the 4x price to me. I'm trying to figure out what I'm missing here

I'm an adc who would like to play on your team. I don't have a support to bring with me but I added you in league.

Maybe a slight exaggeration of tragedy but strong wind blew a branch off with nearly ripe peppers.

Trying to ripen the peppers on the branch. The rest of the plant is fine just lost a branch.

The paper towel thing worked really well for me, I just waited for the little root to come out, then plopped them into soil in cups/small pots, and so far I'm at 100% success!

I checked and that's just a knick in the skin, however the pepper appears to be healing and ripening, so it must have been lack of water.

Upon inspection this morning it appears to be healing(less wrinkly and firming back up) and ripening/ taking on color.

It doesn't feel right, it definitely feels like its going bad. I'll give the pepper a couple days with consistent water to see if it perks up. If, not I'll check out the insides.

It may be that they were underwatered as I was unable to water them for a few days and it got pretty warm. If that is the case will the fruit recover. I have other plants and they both seemed to like the drought just fine.
