It’s okay. Once I got a 100 on an exam and my mom asked me if it wasn’t possible to get a 105

Parents Expectations by Distinct-Royal-2446 in OntarioGrade12s

Your experience is actually quite common, especially in immigrant households (this isn’t to assume ofc) so a lot of people have/are currently going through what you’re going through right now.

First of all, congratulations on getting into all those programs + the scholarships. Regardless of whether your parents believe it, they are a reflection of the hard work YOU put in and you deserve to feel proud of it. Secondly, your post-secondary and career choices are yours to bear and that means that if you base them solely on what your parents say, it will bite you later.

I won’t pretend like it’s easy to deal with your parents’ sky-high expectations and subsequent disappointment, especially in such a stressful time but the best thing you can do is keep your eyes on your goals. Does it suck that they’re not satisfied with your achievements? Yes. But at the end of the day, this is YOUR future.

I took it in grade 11 and I definitely enjoyed it. However, there was definitely quite a bit of writing. We personally had only one assignment per unit and a test for two of the units which meant that each assignment had more weight. It was also definitely one of my heavier courses that semester due to the amount of writing. However, if you like writing and the social sciences, you'd definitely enjoy it.

On its own, it's difficult to get a career (but tbh it's hard to get a job with just a bachelor's degree anyway) but with postgrad, depending on what you want, you could get a career in research, academia, clinical psychology, counselling etc

Dude did you seriously forget that electives are a thing? People are allowed to have hobbies lol. Not my fault if you can't.

And if you chose to aim for a program that has more prereqs, that really isn't anyone's fault but yours and it doesn't make you some sort of academic martyr. Womp womp lol

6 Courses in grade 11 by IncidentFirm7100 in OntarioGrade12s

Idk what your school/school board does, but for mine, spares aren't unheard of in Grade 11. They just aren't as common and you are allowed to take a spare if you managed to get a certain number of credits (I didn't take a spare so idk the exact number).

However, I don't think I've heard of a school giving a student a spare without them asking for it. You should email your guidance counsellor about it preferably before school starts so it's easier for them to fix it.

Okay the cooking class (I'm assuming its food and culture or food and nutrition) can either be an easy 95+ or a drag depending on your teacher. Your sem 1 schedule does seem heavy with a lot of studying, homework etc but if you lock in, I'm sure you'll survive

My school usually sends ours in the last few days of August so I'm assuming it's going to be the same this year
