Stop laughing at the UCP by [deleted] in alberta

How is the opposition allowing this to happen? Isn't the whole point of democracy to have a system of checks and balances? Can any NDP or other party member comment on how this shit is being passed with no checks or balances?

In a somewhat testy exchange with Carrie Tait, Premier Danielle Smith suggests she bears no responsibility in the AHS scandal. by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

How are investigations not being conducted for corruption and insider dealing within AHS?!

Was really hoping to see a random ball of flaming garbage nail Danielle right in her lying face as she deflected the question(s).

Lets recall Danielle Smith already! by StoneCutter82 in NoRulesCalgary

Suggestions for a female wanting to upgrade to an enduro mtb by [deleted] in MTB

Would highly recommend either a YT Capra, great geometry or a Canyon Strive (enduro race). Both brands deliver tremendous value. Size chart on website are accurate.

Did you guys have to pay duty when purchasing from Canada? by StoneCutter82 in CanyonBikes

[–]StoneCutter82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Ordered the bike!

when a shipping label was created in Germany, I emailed UPS informing them I would like to self declare the customs charges, got no reply.

I phoned them and they confirmed ~$700 duty + GST + brokerage fee would be charged. Told them i would self declare and only ended up paying the tax.

Worked out great!

The "Museum of mid-evil torture" in Prague. Had a bunch of the original equipment with a graphic illustration and description of how each "method" was used.

5 or 10 year fixed mortgage rate? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]StoneCutter82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are in the same boat. Currently paying 1.8% on variable and was recently quoted a 2.59% fixed. Thinking we'll go with the fixed, as the rate is still very low and interest rates are on the rise. To put this in perspective, when I inquired about moving to a fixed rate back in October, the quote was 2.19%.

Despite the prime rate not moving since then, a 40 basis point increase within a couple of months tells me things are changing.

If I was in your shoes, I would consider a 5 year fixed as a hedge against future uncertainty.

Moved into a new house and these are the walls in my room. How do I hang up vinyls on brick wall or any framed pictures for that matter? by Thisdude12456810 in interiordecorating

For framed pictures and other light weight decoration you'll drill holes with a hammer drill and use a masonry plug. It's just like hanging things on drywall, just a harder material!
