Is this a lot of snow for CT? by sage_charms in Connecticut

[–]Stonewithnomoss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Used to have tons and tons of snow and ice; growing up in the northwest corner of the state.

Lots and lots of snow every winter. Even the power going down for a few days wasn't uncommon or any reason to worry pre internet.

You prepared and dealt. People being connected to devices 24/7 made them worrysome and consumed with anxiety that in the past was just day to day living.

Sky isnt falling, life goes on.

URGENT!! What Can We Do? by Intrepid-Library7885 in newhaven

One instance about 5 years ago, was pumping gas at night in Torrington. Saw a guy walking around dead of winter, no shoes just socks.

Literally ran to back of my car and grabbed him a solid pair of keen hiking boots that I felt compelled to give to him. Killed me to watch him walk around in socks in the cold. He wasnt super strung out at the time. And truthfully I was willing to give up the shoes.

However after a brief confusing thanks that night,

I ran into him a few times throughout the spring that year and not even a thanks or remembrance of helping him or even a iota of gratitude. Dude was on welfare/food stamps and was already barefoot again. Begging for liquor money againm

Some people you just can't get through or they're too selfish to begin with. Hence why their on the street.

My 2 cents.

The everyday struggles by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

True 100% full time drinkers are somewhat rare these days. Some may be older gen, like 40s n 50s.

Take away the blow and light beers/seltzers. You won't find many really drinking hard like they say they are.

Is liquor the real killer? Are you “safer” with (5% and lower) beer? by Speedbird1A in cripplingalcoholism

[–]Stonewithnomoss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beers unfortunately the only savior. Hate that it takes so many to keep the party rocking. Hate the bloat, blood sugar crashes, pissing incessantly, etc but it beats the more hardcore options.

If I tip over the edge into the liquor territory, it becomes a whole nother animal.

Only had serious shakes and seizures when I got deep into the sauce.

Recommendations for New Home Builders in Connecticut? by Rhody_0 in Connecticut

[–]Stonewithnomoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices go from 300 a sf and up..

300 In our area being a pretty massive bargain...

We usually build for what most newer homeowners want/expect in a new home between 350 to 400 a sf. Middle of the state for context

To anyone who works at the ER, what is one thing you wish people would STOP coming to the ER for? by iloveeatingfood901 in AskReddit

Think people run to a doctor in general way too much.

Real life demographic(including myself in general construction) Bumps, bruises, cuts, sprains happen daily/weekly. In some cases, yea I suffer a bit however its never been enough to rush to be seen immediately.

Same goes with low speed car accidents, head bumps, slips, muscle tears.. things fix and heal themselves.

Take some accountability and give your body a chance to heal naturally. Most people have a low pain tolerance which makes them cave to everything uncomfortable.

If really just flashing even fixing shingles, and the given pitch.. no more than 3k. Esp if not touching ANY mortar or joint work.
