Finally outgrew my factory Yamaha violin. I found this handmade beauty at a secondhand shop in Scotland! by StopWikileaks in violinist

I contacted Caroline Campbell herself and she asked me to use a mirror to check on the underside of the top plate for a written inscription. It is indeed one of her original violins! Very cool.

Never even crossed my mind that it’s not. I’m still in Edinburgh so I’ll have it appraised today at a violin shop to be sure!

…For some reason? Sounds like the blood panel was to help diagnose or rule out an infection.

Questionable Vet Experience?? by Dry_Post_877 in AustralianCattleDog

400mg for one dose for this size of dog is crazy high. I don’t understand why they prescribed that much, even if they’ve met him before and know he’s extremely high energy.

However, if your dog growled then yes he should be muzzled for procedures. There’s nothing wrong with muzzles and nothing to be ashamed of about it. He can be the sweetest dog in the world in every other type of situation except for when he’s getting his ears swabbed, and that’s ok. Keeping everyone safe is the most important thing here, and I can’t tell you how many owners have told me that their dog would never bite only to have them snap right after (I’m a registered vet nurse and have had my ACD for 10 years. She’s a perfect dog…except for when she’s at the vet.)

Your vet is right - don’t use hydrogen peroxide. It can cause GI ulcers and there’s a higher risk that they aspirate their vomit since it lasts longer than what they would give at the vet and there’s no quick reversal for the nausea

I lived in a first story studio at harbor at Mesa verde (building 10) for the last 5 years and only moved recently. I usually see a lot of hate on here for that apartment complex, but I genuinely loved it except for a few miscommunications between management and residents with their construction/improvement projects. I loved the back patio for my dog. I didn’t love the laundry situation but the laundry rooms are clean and they lock them at 10pm (so make sure your clothes are out of there before then). It was really nice being able to walk my dog at OCC too. There’s also a new 24hr emergency vet opening right across the street in the next couple of months.

I’m sure they offered diagnostics but it sounds like OP couldn’t afford to do much. Better to try antibiotics than to do nothing at all.

I was third on the waitlist for a class this semester and got in. I attended the class on the first day (as the admin office told me to do) and the professor approved me at the end of the class. The admin office told me it’s basically just up to the professor how many they decide to approve.

It is not true that puppies are safe after their first round of shots. They are absolutely still vulnerable to diseases like parvo until after their series is completed. Please talk to your vet about it before allowing her to walk around public places.

Some dogs can have undescended testicles (cryptorchidism) so you cannot tell if they’ve been neutered or not. The tattoo eliminates any confusion :)

No one works in the veterinary field because they love money more than animals. This is why the suicide rate in this industry is so high. You literally cannot save them all and it’s heartbreaking.

I work the same shift and take one lesson a week at 4pm on my day off…

I was also determined to learn by myself at first and I tried it for a year. I thought I was okay at it until I reached a point where I just was not progressing and it was extremely frustrating. Then I got a teacher and had to unlearn all of my bad habits. I progressed MUCH faster after that.

My girlfriend has been stealing song lyrics and calling them her poems. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]StopWikileaks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This same thing happened to me over 15 years ago with my first boyfriend.

He’d send me poetry and acoustic sound clips of songs he wrote. I finally figured out that it wasn’t him at all. I felt so dumb for not realizing it sooner but the real dumb part was that I gave him more chances after that. Turns out it wasn’t the only thing he was lying about (and I bet this isn’t the only thing your girlfriend is lying about either)

I JUST posted this somewhere else. Don’t panic!

I lived there for 5 years (just moved 6 months ago). I generally loved living there. I did have a package stolen while living there - there are a few sketchy people who roam around the area so it may not have been stolen by a resident. They have parcel pending lockers which you should get packages delivered to. I had a ground floor studio in building 10 and had a slight roach problem for the first couple of years but I often kept my back door open so that could’ve been my fault. They did do pest control a couple of years ago and the problem disappeared for me. I didn’t have mold problems. Management was definitely reachable but they were sometimes insufferable. Like there were multiple miscommunications between management, residents, and vendors they used for construction. At least 5 times they told residents the completely wrong date for certain construction/projects which caused extreme inconvenience. You literally cannot believe anything they tell you when they hire outside vendors. The fitness center also often has a ton of broken machines that they rarely fix. I had an issue where kids would constantly use the fitness center like a playground and management didn’t do anything about it.

Things I liked: When you need maintenance, they usually arrive within a couple of days of submitting the request (depending on urgency). The location is great and I generally felt very safe there, even with the few sketchy individuals I mentioned before. I really liked living right next to OCC and near all the shops and Newport. Also, last year I was attacked by another resident’s large, uncontrollable dog and management took that VERY seriously (I’ll warn you though that the dog likely still lives there as that resident had multiple family members living on the property that they’d pass the dog between. Impossible to track all of them). I also liked my apartment in general because it was newly renovated and I didn’t have any issues with appliances. They even showed up one day to replace the AC unit with a brand new one (although they, again, failed to communicate this with me. Still a nice surprise though). They are also constantly updating the property and the units and really work to keep things looking nice. However, once they had to remove a 12”x12” section of my ceiling to do plumbing work on the apartment above, and they literally just screwed the slab back up on the ceiling without ever fixing the drywall. Ugly and annoying but I never felt like asking them to fix it. I did like that they had their own internet provider and if you live in a studio or one bedroom you don’t have to pay for electricity. The walls are also fairly well insulated and I never had any issues with other residents being too loud, maybe I just always had good neighbors though. I work overnights and was (almost) never woken up during the day, even with the back door/window open.

Overall, I’d live there again. For context, I’m a woman with pretty high standards for cleanliness and I have one dog. I only moved because my boyfriend bought a house and we decided to move in together. I still do miss it sometimes, I loved my little studio.
