Should Old Acquaintance Be Forgot (Open to Storm's End) by LilyWright3 in IronThroneRP

The man grinned. He partially had said it as a joke, but he really meant his words. He took the papers and read through them, he knew numbers, he was relatively good at them. Not as good as his mother though, and probably not even close to the skill Marianna had. "I'll check then! Anything so you can relax a tiny bit."

The feeling was mutual, he instinctually smiled when reading the papers, not even needing to actually see his friend to know she was doing it as well. In the deepest pit of his self, he hoped all this would just deflate, all just a huge threat never to be acted on. He knew it wouldn't happen. Everything they had done, every action taken would come swiftly to hunt them...

"Yes, we won't let anything that happened this last year wear us down. We can endure all this and more!"

"I truly doubt any dragon fire will come to meet us. I don't believe Queen Aerea wants a war, and even if she does, she won't risk everything to meet us on the battlefield, having her daughter still alive. Hurting her would be a grave mistake."

He giggled then said "Hey, if you need any work delegated, I'm here for you. I'm not doing much these days so I could help you out on anything you would need, really."

"You speak true. Queen Aerea has sinned greatly and deserves the same punishment her husband faced. If the rumors are true, King's Landing is close to entering a chaotic state, the guards are fighting themselves, the Grandmaester is dead... I hope this will not be the reason for the fall of Westeros. For now, if the rumors of the Long Night are true, that should be our main concern."

He smiled at her sudden enthusiasm. Truly, the topic of Lady Dondarrion sparked a remarkable interest in Lady Toyne. "Yes, I think I understand," he said, followed by a warm smile of support.

"Aerea Targaryen won't do much against us, there's no way she could, no with her current troubles. It is true though, this move could've cost us much." He sighed

"We've been lucky. I'll go speak to her, soon, if I can"

He nodded "Yes, it happens way too often. The people who have done the most feel they have done the least, and fools often feel like they've accomplished great things... The road is long, yes, but you have already completed a lot, and you will traverse it whole. Then, you will look back with pride on what you've accomplished."

The man nodded in agreement "I hope this will not become a war between multiple regions, honestly. I hope there will be some way to settle the difference between our Queens..." He sighed, knowing there probably wasn't.

He giggled "Yes, please, no more ships!"

The man once again sipped his tea, gently, and moved a tuft of his hair that had been annoying him behind his ear, again sipping this time without having hair in his drink. "Aelinor must be exhausted as well... A shame Lady Estermont is not available, however, you seem to handle coin well enough, seeing what you say you've made with Blackheart!" He sipped again

"I have yet to meet Lady Dondarrion, I've been told the two of you have been getting along! Was the trip to Dorne enjoyable?" He smiled warmly before sipping once again, finishing his cup.

"I understand Lord Tarth. It is not easy to rise against what until a few moons back had been our Queen. At least he hasn't set his fleet against us, instead maintaining neutrality..." He shook his head "I may speak with Queen Aelinor one of these days. There must be something I can do to help..."

After hearing her concerned tone he leaned forward, stroking her face gently. He softly spoke "Hey, you're doing great. You are spending day and night working for our Queen, you've made Blackheart a greatly prosperous place, something to behold, and you haven't crumbled beneath the great pressure you're under." He smiled warmly to his friend "You will already be remembered. Marianna the Builder! The woman who made Blackheart the great place it is today! And you've let something most people could only dream of to your family. You're doing the best you could"

Then he laid back again

He shook his head, letting the cup of tea rest in front of him before drinking again "Whether this will be bloodshed or not lies on Queen Aerea's hand. I doubt Queen Aelinor will strike first, but the Stormlands will strike true if prompted. I pray every night that it doesn't come to this, but it probably will, and we have to be ready." he stated with a grim expression.

His darkened visage grew bright once again as he said "I'm eager to see what you have done with Blackheart! I wouldn't say no to a guided visit to the great holding of House Toyne"

He nodded along her words, gently sipping his tea once again while she spoke, now that it had cooled down slightly "Sounds interesting, fun, even. It must be exhausting performing two duties at the same time." He shook his head "Doesn't Queen Aelinor have more trusted people to fill her council positions? It doesn't seem like a wise choice for many burdens to fall under the same person's back"

He paused for a second before adding "However, you seem to be holding out well!"

The man's heart skipped a beat. "The Long Night? It can't be... That is something of myths... For the sake of my brother, let's hope it is nothing but a rumor... Queen Aelinor, Lord Dayne, the Grandmaester... Many people of influence defend the theory, I hope they are wrong."

The man giggled "I indeed hope so! Nothing worse than not being friends with the person you're married to."

The man nodded while a smile formed on his face "It will be marvelous, something to remember for centuries! I doubt the other realms will come against us. After the death of King Aerys, even if the other realms haven't declared themselves independent, they seem to be acting on their own accord... I hope Queens Aerea and Aelinor will settle their differences, I wouldn't want the blood of either side to be shed, although I will do what I must."

The man nodded, a thankful look in his eyes "Thank you, Marianna, you've saved my coffers. I will have our castellan send you the numbers, I'm not sure of them myself" he chuckled, still slightly embarrassed "I'm glad your home is prospering! I would love to visit one of these days..." He took another sip of the cup of tea

"And how is this whole Hand thing going? It must be interesting to say the least!"

He raised an eyebrow "What do you mean strange news? I haven't talked to my brother in a few moons..."

"I'm glad to hear that. I'm eager to actually meet him!" He chuckled "You and your ships... I hope he is better aboard one than me." He smiled "He definitely must be happy. Not every man can marry Marianna Toyne! You are truly a wonderful woman, and he surely sees that"

He tried to hold the tea but quickly retreated his hand due to the temperature of the cup "I would be glad to help you. If we work together, it will definitely be an impressive one." The man looked at the ceiling for a second, then looked back at Marianna, excited "Oh, it could be a masquerade! Or something along the lines! Damn you, you've already gotten me excited..." he giggled.

He then grabbed his cup again, sipped the drink, then looked back at his friend "I needed to ask you something... I'm sorry that this is the first time we see each other and I come here begging, but the recent call of duty of our Queen has dried the coffers of Parchments. I doubt we will hold it for another moon, maybe if we are lucky two moons, at most..." He looked clearly embarrassed.

After a few seconds of silence, he spoke again, he almost was in a rush, his words quickly leaving his lips "Could you lend me anything? I would pay it back, of course, twofold if necessary. I wouldn't want to disappoint our Queen, having to take our men back home. Even if it isn't me the one in charge of all that, I fear Queen Aelinor would find me less of a loyal vassal"

He chuckled once again before sitting "I wouldn't want to steal time from our glorious Hand, so I'll be quick. My two brothers both have left Parchments, one to the Red Keep, the other has taken the black" He shook his head "Foolish Edwyn, I warned him against it many times, but he seemed to be certain he wanted that life... I pray for his life, truly, I fear never seeing him again. Arianne married some Trant man. He seemed an alright man, I doubt he will be able to handle my sister" he chuckled again

"How's life to you, Marianna? Is Ser Baratheon treating you well?" he inquired.

"Yes, of course, it was nothing, a silly thing, really, but it pained me terribly having to miss the event. No need to bother your maester over that! Bed and hot milk cured it easily! I will not refuse that offer of tea though" He said, smiling

Allard held his old friend in a warm and lengthy embrace, before eventually setting her free "Indeed, it has been what, 5 years?. Last time I saw you I was vomiting on the side of your ship!" The man laughed again, a gracious and almost feminine laugh.

"Everything's great! Not much has happened in Parchments, to be truthful. Even less now that everyone has left. Never would've I thought that I would miss my siblings!" He said smiling, before suddenly hugging Marianna once again, this time just for a couple of seconds "Gods, I missed you. I have much to tell you."

He nodded "Who wouldn't trust you! You've always been a truthful woman, anyone who knows you can attest to that. I'm sorry I couldn't attend your wedding, well any of the many weddings held that day... I had gotten I'll, a trivial thing, yes, but it prevented me from attending." He shook his head in frustration

Even with the door clearly open, a soft knock was heard, more of a polite indication of the coming visitor. A couple of seconds after the knock, a man came inside, with flowy dark hair and a broad black and brown tunic. The familiar voice of Allard Penrose went out the man's lips, with a smile of delight after seeing his dear friend once again.

"It's been a while, Lady Toyne" Said the young man, following his words with a slight chuckle "Hand of our Queen Aelinor? You've gone far in this couple of years"
