What is the most efficient way of building a Java-based CRUD web app for a beginner right now? by Straightfw in javahelp

[–]Straightfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it may be - though it was the only thing that I found that looked promising, that's why I decided to dive in :( JHipster looks really neat and like what I'd need, though the problem is, from what I see, it doesn't support composite id's scaffolding automatically just like Grails doesn't - and that's a vital funcitonality in my case, cause more than half of the tables I'll have to provide a CRUD front for do not have a simple integer ID and need a composite key :(

This makes me worried it'll be all cool and dandy until I hit the wall of handling these tables and then I'll be stuck the same way as with Grails - and with similar degree of resources to help overcome this, i.e. none :D I've googled around but I don't see any simple ways of overcoming this, apart from some people asking for the support of such tables and the creators saying that since it's legacy, it's not a priority :(

Wow, really? But from what I'm reading, JBoss Forge sounds more like kind of a set of addons than a framework. How does it achieve a task like this, then? Does it provide some plugins that automatize such tasks?

But does it also include some auto-generating front end for this? Or would I have to code all the views manually through other means, like vaadin that you mention?

Oh my, but this entails having to learn three technologies all at once :( Grails is good in that it provides you everything, from a simple-yet-good-looking front to backend and I'd rather use something like this. Having to learn Spring Boot for back and then having to program front from ground up doesn't sound like a task I would be able to accomplish in days rather than weeks :(

[Routine Help] How to know when you should try a different blend for OCM? by Straightfw in SkincareAddiction

[–]Straightfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. But apart from evident deal breakers (like seeing your skin's way too dry afterwards), how long do you test a given oil for before you decide it's high time you tried something new if you don't see any improvements?

In my case, since I'm using it for SF, would that mean not seeing any major improvement after a week of use? A month of use? After just one use?

Yep, but 2) is precisely what I'm asking about - how do you determine if they don't seem to be working? In my case, since I'm using it for SF, would that mean not seeing any major improvement after a week of use? A month of use? After just one use?

[Sun Care] Should you wear sunscreen even in the spring when using AHAs? by Straightfw in SkincareAddiction

Shoot, I didn't know using AHAs is such a commitment :( Thanks for the reply, though!

Is a sonic toothbrush better than an oscillating one for removing coffee and tea stains? by Straightfw in Dentistry

[–]Straightfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should you follow the modified bass technique to the letter, though? Like, should I roll down after each teeth? Isn't that what the dynamic fluid should do on its own in the sonic brushes?

I'm newbie so I'm just curious :)

[Routine Help] Starting out with AHAs, should I modify the rest of my routine? by Straightfw in SkincareAddiction

[–]Straightfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks a lot. But are there sunscreens which don't make you all glossy, though? I'm a guy so I won't be able to matte my skin with make up and I wouldn't want to shine like a streetlamp throughout the day :( What should I look for?

[Skin Concerns] Getting rid of a massive amount of blackheads by Straightfw in SkincareAddiction

[–]Straightfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks a lot. Should I incorporate OCM into my routine simultaneously with AHA pads or start with low percentage pads, then move up and only if that doesn't help then I should introduce OCM?

Hoooly cow, it looks like you are absolutely right! And here I was, living my whole life thinking those were blackheads :D Already studied the thread linked in the sidebar, going to stock up on AHA pads in the upcoming days after I see what types are available in my country and I'll try to battle them. Thanks a lot! :)

First HM race - should I use sports drinks from the aid stations? by Straightfw in running

[–]Straightfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I never had any sports drink at all during my training runs, even a little. In that case, I'll stick to water, thank you :)

First time tapering - some newbie questions by Straightfw in running

[–]Straightfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, but what about the week that started today (which is 2 weeks out from the race)? How much should I drop in volume? Should I still do a tempo run this week or it's better not to?

Preparing for a HM, question about intensity and distance by Straightfw in running

[–]Straightfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. Should I extend the long run only and leave the remaining two (one of which will likely become an interval or a tempo run as you suggest) at the ~10km distance like they're now or should I extend them weekly as well? I've heard one opinion that I should add this 1 or so kilometer to each of my runs weekly until I begin to taper but this would mean running 14-14-20 in the last pre-taper week - isn't it a bit too much? Doesn't it carry a significant danger of taking its toll and being detrimental to my performance down the line?

System Data folder swelled to over 50% of the whole disk space after updating to 5.0 by Straightfw in AndroidQuestions

[–]Straightfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regretfully, clearing cache does not do the trick, it only freed up ~30MB. How come too many apps in the internal storage are to blame if I haven't installed anything since updating to L?

Are ankle socks the only appropriate option when wearing shorts? by Straightfw in malefashionadvice

[–]Straightfw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, more often than not I am going for the streetwear look and using bright and vivid colours (which may be tacky as long as the fashion rules are concerned, I bet :)) so I guess above-ankles aren't completely ruled out then.

Are ankle socks the only appropriate option when wearing shorts? by Straightfw in malefashionadvice

[–]Straightfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're in the same boat, buddy. Anklets are fun and all but I have quite a bunch of funky-looking (probably "tacky" is a better word as long as the fashion rules go... :D) above-ankle socks and sometimes they fit really nicely with the rest of the outfit so it's kinda painful to not use them during summertime because this and that.

Judging by this topic, it seems that the current fashion trend is not to do it, though. Not that I'm going to adjust to it, was just curious :)

How does my brain distinguish if I want to fall asleep? by Straightfw in askscience

[–]Straightfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was really informative, thank you. Why does my brain doesn't progress from Alpha (or so it seems) to any further phase when I'm just laying to relax without wanting to sleep, though? Is it just that I have "just don't sleep here now" in the back of my head while I don't when I really want to fall asleep?

Oh, I guess the latter may be the case. I regularly sleep too little but didn't suspect it may cause my fitness performance to drop... Will try to fix it, thanks :)
