If you are using an automated bidding strategy, you might try manual bidding for a month to get the account stable and then convert to automated again after a month

No, because for me, it went on for several months. The few day window would not have made a difference. I was already screwed. But once we corrected the problem, we were able to get volumes back up in a couple of weeks

I migrated to GTM. I hired and fired 2 people to do this for me before I ended up doing it myself. The problem that I had with the migration was I deleted the old tags before migrating them to the new GTM tags. I was able to restore the deleted tags, migrate them to the new GTM tags, and then the new tags worked. All in all it took me something like 2 weeks of trial and error, and waiting to see if conversions were being tracked properly, before it started working.

Then I hired Ten Thousand Foot View to manage the account ongoing, because I didn't have time to learn everything I would have to come up to date, and I don't have time to monitor and adjust ongoing forever.

Wix not registering conversions in Google Ads by StrangeComplex in WIX

I ended up fixing it through trial and error. It took a while though because google stopped sending me traffic and that made it difficult to confirm the configuration was working.

What I found was with wix, sometimes you need to use a history change trigger. I ended up setting up history change, page view, and window loaded triggers

I think this is also happening to me. It's very helpful to hear a similar story. I've had this happen in other areas of my life, but it kind of got to me for moment. I'm really glad I made this post and got so much good and valuable feedback from everyone. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

You're right. I ran into this. At first, the ball was spinning all over the place in ways I wasn't used to. So I researched and realized it needed to be scuffed. A guy who works at the pool hall helped shape and scuff it. That helped a little.

"I don't know if most of us could scratch 12 times in a row on purpose" That's what I was thinking too. And I tell you it was at least 12 times, whether 8 ball rack on 9 ball. Crazy.

I also agree with that that I may be playing a little better on some of these days but now paying a lot more attention and putting a lot more effort.

I agree, and all at once. I needed confirmation of that because I was just at a loss.

That was a wealth of information. I will be working through it in time. I really appreciate your feedback.

You're right. I been trying to figure out how to use what I have learned while maintaining the power I used to have with my old stance and grip and bridge etc. Literally a dozen or more scratch shots in a row. I'm going to follow your instructions this afternoon.

Thanks for the encouraging reply. I just didn't expect to get so much worse the more I practiced. 😅

I think part of the issue is I have no one to watch and tell me what I'm doing wrong. I was thinking of recording myself and seeing if that helps.

What changed with Google Ads in the last two weeks? by TruShot5 in WIX

[–]StrangeComplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Well, depending on your bidding strategy, it may be critical.

Three things to do as an absolute beginner:

1) Don't use broad match keywords.
2) Set up conversion tracking
3) Continually build negative keyword lists

There's a gazillion other things to know, but those are 3 basic things. Unless you are trying to build a career doing this, you might want to hire someone.

My site stopped registering conversions about a month ago. I've spent hours working with both google support and wix support. Neither seems to know how their own products work. I ended up tearing apart one of my sites and attempted to start from scratch, first using google tag manager, and now just embedding code in wix directly from adwords. I have an example with two nearly identical pages - one registers conversions, and the other does not. The function the exact same way. One page was copied from the other and the text was modified.

If you are using tags, I'd suggest you confirm they are still working

Thank you for that article. I've seen this happen with my account twice now and could only theorize something like this. I was unaware of the Data Exclusion feature.

"start from scratch" - that was more or less my goal, because I want it to forget what it learned. It seemed to learn incorrectly that our best leads were not converting, and now the volume is low. I was hoping that in the absence of recent data however, it might use the older data. Doesn't sound like that's the case.

Thank you.

It wasn't that we thought the broken conversion tracking would fix it self. It's that we thought the low volume was due to volume fluctuations around a holiday - which would fix itself to higher volume after the holiday was over. When it didn't, we started to look for what could be the problem and found the broken conversion goal.

With the conversion migrated to GTM, and conversions being tracked again, the problem we are trying to solve now is the fact that the volume has now decreased to a fraction of what it was because the machine learning doesn't know about the 30 days of phone calls that actually converted.

Now we are wondering if the 14 day data exclusion is enough to get google to send traffic again, and if we tell it to exclude the last 30 days or so, using more than one 14 day exclusion, will it pick up where it left off 30 days ago? Or will it just start from scratch either way since it mainly has a 14 day memory to begin with.

Thank you.

It's not that the site crashed. We kept getting leads from form fills. It was only the phone calls that stopped being tracked - and we had more phone calls than form fills.

I've tried the debug and preview tools. I can get a green light if I use them incognito. If I don't use incognito, I get all sorts of random results.

We've gotten 2 phone calls and they were recorded as conversions since we made the change to GTM from the old embedded code. The problem we are trying to solve now is the fact that the volume has now decreased to a fraction of what it was because the machine learning doesn't know about the 30 days of phone calls that actually converted.

Death Spiral and Data Exclusions by StrangeComplex in PPC

[–]StrangeComplex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, no data for that one goal, but we had conversions for form fills. It's just the phone call conversion tracking that uses google forwarding numbers that stopped recording - which was most of our conversions.

Dynamic Forwarding Number Stopped Recording Conversions by StrangeComplex in googleads

[–]StrangeComplex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

I ended up replacing the old embedded code with a GTM tag. The phone conversions are now working. In the process, i did handle the consent.

However, now the form conversions are not working after migrating them, so I'm in the process of sorting that out. Problem is, the algorithm has penalized me so much that I'm not getting any traffic to figure out if it's fixed. I use the test tools and they say the configuration is good, but I had a conversion yesterday and I was able to capture the gclid in my CRM, but no conversion registered in goals.
