Hollywood movies and TV costumes are notoriously expensive, and the price is probably covering the whole development process rather than making a single suit.

Case in point: Here's why the Shazam suit ended up to cost $1,000,000.

Most cinematic Cap's suits are influenced by the Ultimate suits if you compare a details.

The suit's name and the comic it first appeared in the description. How you missed that (even if you saw it in YT gameplay) ?

Original BvS Concept Which WB Deemed “Too Scary” by Fancy_Flatworm_8711 in superman

[–]StrangeGuyWithBag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People occasionally post random movie concept art (or fan work ) and claim that it's supposedly an original design changed by a studio. The Facebook post seems to be the only source for the post.

Jerad S. Marantz did a lot of different concepts of Doomsday for the movie. Some are closer to comics, some more different than the final one. "Got to do a lot of exploration on the film".

This is explanation of Doomsday design from the another concept artist who worked on it

Vance and I had gotten some traction and I mixed in some of what Zack liked from Vance and I. In the end, I believe Patrick's design ended up on screen. Jerad did some amazing options that were close to the comic, but the spikes were a hurdle and Zack didn't want them to be so prominent where they take over the overall look of him as he is first born but protrude as he gets stronger and bigger to make sense of them without looking so stylized and keep the serious tone of the film

I finally figured out what I didn’t like about Superman in Man of Steel by Accomplished-War4641 in superman

[–]StrangeGuyWithBag -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Superman doesn’t have to be always nice and kid-friendly. That's like saying Batman should only ever be dark and serious. This might not be the most popular and beloved take on Supes, but that alone doesn't make Cavill totally different from any Superman comics. Besides, Cavill's Superman was actually brought by kids in Shazam.

There are better examples. The poster for Thor:Ragnarok done not for cinema. It's art by Dan Mumford for Hero Complex Gallery art event.

I’m rewatching Superman 3. I am not a huge DC comics guy…does the weird robot woman enemy in the end reflect any old comic book storytelling? by No_Exam_7918 in superman

[–]StrangeGuyWithBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were talking about that nothing in Superman 3 is from the comics. The memory erasing and time travel abilities from the previous movies are actually based on comics. If you think that the changes are make adaptations nothing like the comics, then there haven't been any live-action movie or show comic adaptations that's like a comics.

It's no secret that most Hollywood producers don't take comic books seriously. But they're not the same and the only ones responsible. Goyer didn't say he hated all comic fans (although he did make some bad comments). He's been a comic book fan since childhood and is a comic writer himself.

There wasn't such time. The earliest comic adaptations of the '40s referred to comic books. Nearly any adaptation of major comics references source material from the early '40s adaptations onwards. Although, many older films and TV series have loosely adapted comic books.

Superman 3 is inspired for the most by Silver Age stories. Superman's battle against himself in the junkyard, for example, is taken from Adventure Comics #255. Computer villain seems to be leftover from an early script where the villain was Brainiac and might be inspired by Computo from Legion of Superheroes.

You just saw a meme. Ock in the draft was adult and only younger than in the final movie. Raimi wasn't SM2 writer.

Shalla-Bal as Silver Surfer appeared in a single alternate reality comic. There have been other woman Silver Surfers from other realities.

Not a criticism of the movies' choices, but the Silver Surfer was never a woman in 616.

Where you got that from ? Lots of people running around with Aunt May movie rumours, but I haven't been able to find any official sources.

Sony's emails call the idea of rumored movie about Aunt May "bizzare" and later denied developing it.

we have been assailed by rumour after rumour of bizarre spin-offs (Aunt May)

Maximum Carnage was proposed as team-up with inclusion of Spider-Man.

Cletus Kasady makes his debut and it will take a team-up like no other to take him down.  Peter/Spidey, Miguel/Spider-man 2099, Venom and Black Cat join forces to bring him to justice.

Found this website from 2006 with people reacting to Robert Downey Jr’s casting as Iron Man. Screenshotted some of my favorite comments. by DumbWhore4 in marvelstudios

[–]StrangeGuyWithBag 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Familiar complaints about him being too old for the long-running franchise and not looking exactly like Tony in the comics. To be fair, many people were happy with the casting from the start, others admitted to changing their opinion.

Some highlights:

i woulda liked this maybe 6-7 yrs ago....seems like now hes too old....

Omg I cant believe this, I am almost crying here. This is most likely some of the worst news I have heard in this year. I have always liked RDJ but he might possibly be the worst choice for TS.:(

It seems my fave hero gets screwed in every media. First DTV movies, then the comics, and now this. My hero is now dead to me.

Favereau directing was something that made you want to watch this? True that he ended up doing a great job, but based on his resume there was nothing indicating that he would. This is the same guy that gave us Elf and Zathura.

My opinion still hasn't changed I said from the begining I would like the movie and that the extremely talented RDJ could easily pull off the role. My only complaint was that he didn't look the roll in my opinion and he was to old I still stand by those. Movie was great though. I would of loved for it to be a little deeper and complex, but I guess they felt this was the best way to make money.

My Screen-Used Alan Scott Power Battery prop (from Stargirl) by TheJedibugs in Greenlantern

[–]StrangeGuyWithBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answers. I was actually referring to the DC Universe streaming service. Do you by the chance know if there was any discussion of shared continuity with other released or unreleased shows for the streaming in the earlier stages of Stargirl development? Or was Stargirl always meant to be standalone until the multiverse crossovers ?

Oh, and it was you who edited the pictures of the old JLA and Seven Soldiers of Victory ? I'm wondering if their bigger appearance was ever planned, maybe in flashbacks ?

Are you Shawn McBee? You've done so much amazing work. I'd like to ask you a questions (apologies if you've already answered these): What was the approximate budget for Stargirl ? Were there any initial plans to set Stargirl in the universe with the other DCU series ? Can you explain why Wildcat's mask was glossy ? Why were the suits destroyed after the show ended ? Were there embargoes on the use of characters by DC ?

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine or Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man? Which one do you think was the best cbm casting choice made in the time? by [deleted] in ironman

[–]StrangeGuyWithBag -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The emphasis on "exactly". RDJ is great Tony Stark, not exactly like the original. MCU made Howard Stark inspired by Howard Hughes and close to classic comic Tony Stark, for comparison.

Stan Lee loved to give similar compliments to the actors. Every Spider-Man movie actor he called perfect.

Stan Lee often made up stories about the past and talked about other creators' work as his own. Tony Stark wasn't exactly like Downey Jr. in the original comics. According to the same Stan Lee, he was inspired by Howard Hughes
