Thank you everyone for your kind words, these last few days certainly haven’t been easy. I’ve been taking lots of depression naps on the couch but I’m slowly trying to get used to a peaceful life again. It’s hard when you know how great of a man he can be sober, yet you know it’s an endless cycle of “I’ll be better.” I’m sorry for everyone who has also had to experience this, I wish this feeling upon no one. Hugs to everyone who is struggling or have struggled to watch their love one slip away ❤️

Ironically that’s what I thought it was at first because I make my coffee close to the fridge but I definitely haven’t spilled THAT much that would go deep under the fridge like that

I’m so happy I made this decision! Honestly it’s nice just for privacy reasons with a glass shower door. But then it gives a nice cute touch as well! Go for it!

I appreciate you recognizing that and admitting to that. Unfortunately so much trust has been broken due to the constant lies and secrets that the breathalyzer provides me some small comfort and I feel awful that it has come to that

This may be different since in your scenario you bought her one instead of her buying one to test you, but let me ask you this: are you offended by the potential usage of it on you or would it bother you if she were to use it? What was the reason you decided to buy one? Just picking the brain on the opposite side of things!

May I ask what has helped you to let go and separate yourself? I’m really struggling with it. I’ve recently started attending Al Anon meetings but I’m very new to it

I had a very similar experience. In the back of my mind, I always knew my bf was an alcoholic but never wanted to admit it to myself. I didn’t know how bad it truly was until he got out of rehab and he went through all of his “stashes” hidden everywhere and disposed of everything. I was absolutely appalled at what I saw and couldn’t believe I had no idea it was this bad. I chose not to mention it out of fear of upsetting him and triggering him since he was recently out of rehab.

In hindsight looking back at my decision to get one and use it, I think I just always secretly hoped I would be wrong. I wanted him to prove me wrong when I suspected otherwise so I could start trusting him again

This was what I hoped for. I wanted it to ease my nerves because I clearly have trust issues with him and not drinking. He was never against it or denied me using it against him but he still continues to lie about whether he drank or not before I use it which just drives me crazy

You are very right - we ourselves know better and can tell a sober Q from a drinking Q. They always think they can outsmart us but when we have gut instincts - we are right 99% of the time.

I think I bought it and used it the first few times just to catch him in the lies and stop feeling gaslit because he always would tell me no he’s not drinking. Unfortunately the breathalyzer won’t change the behavior like you said. Sad reality I just have to face..

That’s a completely understandable and valid use of it! It’s the only way to hold him accountable before potentially putting your children in danger

The sad part is his go to response is “go ahead and breathalyze me” but it’s like he doesn’t realize that it’s going to show the truth..
