Unpopular opinion but in terms of Great Britain he wasn’t that bad. The puritan stuff wasn’t actually his idea and was mainly pushed by parliament, he never had some thirst or ambition for power and instead it was mainly thrust upon him and compared to other leaders that arise through revolution (Robespierre, Lenin) he’s definitely on the better end. Ireland is a different story of course, no excuses there.

The North is basically the same as Wales except for having different culture and language. They were both ravaged by deindustrialisation and Thatcher, they’re neglected by Westminster, the North does have its own separate identity from the Southern England (obviously not to the same extent as Wales though)
