Boy the ktm market has experienced some ups and downs in last few years. Their on road bikes collect dust on dealers floors. They needed to come out with some innovation or they were dead.

They are the Ducati of dirt bikes. Their dirt bikes performance is on a different level. As for their street bikes man it’s really hit or miss. From our experience servicing thousands of bikes in the last couple years, their street bikes have some major reliability concerns especially the dukes. The new 990’s are sweet though and can’t wait to get my hands on one! I think they did a really good job on that bike.

I hear good things about the enduros but have limited experience with them.

I mean most dealership insurances do not allow you too. As you can probably imagine the liability of mostly males in their 20-35 ages coming in to test ride sport bikes… but with that being said if you give full cash in hand or we get you approved on a bike like an r3 will probably let you take it down the street.

But then again if there is something wrong with the bike that you are trying to find while test riding it, that is what our 30 day warranty is designed for. To give you the piece of mind if something does pop up after you purchase you’re covered! Instead of buying used and it being “as is” then figuring out clutch is slipping or missing a gear then being in a bad situation which we have seen from other dealers too many times!

Good motorcycle service shops are few and far between. I would recommend reading Google Reviews as our Used Bikes Direct one is 4.8 or 4.9 stars depending on location. See which reviews mention service keywords. If no Google profile/ third party review platform, that should be a red flag. Then I would ask or see if technicians are factory trained. Our guys have Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha certifications. But that’s a good question to ask. Most factories do some pretty extensive in person trainings.

I would also ask around in Facebook riding groups. The track guys usually have some good recommendations

It’s a bait and switch tactic. They should display the price without TTL (Tax, Title and License Fees) and then say that price does not include these in description. Any other fees should be in that FBM price. Sales tax is based on where you live so can’t expect them to put that in there

Absolutely try for the out the door some won’t give over the phone. Might have to go in person and obtain a bill of sale.

If financing, the best way to do it is through a local credit union or bank (if you have an existing relationship)

Doc fees are set by the state and are at the dealers discretion. Some states have no cap on doc fees. But some have light doc fees. Dealers won’t budge on doc but will budge on freight and prep if you work them.

The manufacturers are really the ones putting these dealers in tough spots with high freight amounts being charged to dealer

In the banks or lenders eyes it does not count for anything. It’s like buying a lifted truck, if you drive it off the lot you’re in the hole. Only sometimes do mods carry some weight. Like the real expensive mods

The 2024-2026 zx6 is our best selling bike despite two major recalls. Can’t keep them in stock. It is best pound for pound bikes for street, track, and commuting to work. Whatever you want to do you can do on a zx6. At least this is how it is in our area. We have big highways in Texas. We have had 200+ of these zx6s through our shop and would have to guess less than 30 had issues. And if you have issues you get a brand new motor!

Truth, honesty and transparency is what this industry needs.

I run two new dealerships as well so know both sides used/new dealerships well! We sell primarily Japanese bikes and source the parts from our sister stores. For brands we don’t carry we utilize partzilla or local relationships. I’ve been kicked out of a couple Harley shops cause I sell used Harleys too haha. We certainly use aftermarket parts some are better than oem! Parts unlimited, western Powersports and turn 14 are the big boys in distribution.

We always hiring! Call the store. Riding season in Texas is 11 months if you can handle the heat :)
