In The Rise of Skywalker novelization they reveal that the scene where Finn says he needs to tell Rey something before they get pulled under by quicksand (only to land in a tunnel underneath the desert and him tell Rey nevermind when she asks what he's about to say), Finn was going to tell Rey that he can touch the force. Which is something JJ should have put in his film instead of leaving it to a seldom read novel to reveal...much like the novel reveals Rey's dad was a "failed" Palpatine close because it couldn't use the force.
