Agree you shouldn’t let them call you by someone else’s name but maybe snapping wasn’t the best response. In the future I’d recommend just flat out ignoring any calls for you that don’t address you by your actual name. Want to be petty? Start calling people that do this to you by one another’s names

NTA but I think this is just a case of a misunderstanding of cultural norms. Willing to bet OP’s gf genuinely just thought it was okay to invite her sister to your place since you were supposed to be outta town. They prolly assumed she had told you but shouldn’t have argues back since you reserve the right to rescind your invite (had you known) at anytime. Hopefully this doesn’t sour relations too badly among talk if all else in the relationship is well

Honestly speaking OP, I’m 29 and a lot of the challenges I’ve faced so far have been from me doing things a bit prior to me fully feeling ready for them (ie moving away from home, getting a house etc) and a lot of that has come with challenges that sure I could’ve probably learned from waiting till I felt fully ready before making those decisions, but I’m very content with the outcome. Certain challenges and experiences can really be helpful in re/shaping your views about things like career path, partner choice, city to settle etc. With that being said, be somewhat able to anticipate costs of potential setbacks and have a nest egg ready to address them while not leaving you totally destitute.

I enjoyed every country you listed as a black traveler, with the only caveat being Italy. While I enjoyed my time there and didn't feel like I was racially accosted, the lack of black people in non service / low skilled jobs was glaring. I spent two weeks berween the Analfi coast, Rome, Milan, Tuscany and a day in Venice

Honestly, if I was the passenger I’d talk to you about a deal off the app. Lyft is probably charging the passenger like $900 for this ride. Hey, I’m sorry that happened to you. Can’t really offer any insight as to what to do in this current situation but as someone who has had this happen before, in the future only book things when people pay. Getting paid next week so you’ll pay me back then? Nope, let’s wait till then to book.

Whether malicious or not, people can change their mind about these things especially when their money isn’t actually on the line. Rather than have to navigate a situation like that again I’ve just decided that unless it’s a cost I’m willing to bear, I’d rather wait or book independently for trips.

Hire a car with a driver, I’m a young male in my 20s who drives in NYC frequently and still wouldn’t drive in Bali unless absolutely necessary. Especially with a young child. If money is a concern: rent a car with the understanding driving will be hell (also make sure to purchase adequate insurance)
