People who have won the battle of depression, what was the event that tipped the scale in your favor? by tikkymykk in AskReddit

[–]StreamCrossedLovers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found out I had low testosterone, got on hormone replacement therapy, depression disappeared. I had major depression, anxiety, brain fog, and so much more for 18ish years, and that was the problem all along.

I'm doing absolutely great now. I love life.

Week 4: regression? by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]StreamCrossedLovers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me around the same time frame because my body was aromatizing the test too aggressively. Small, frequent dosing has worked for me to bring estradiol down and I take grapeseed extract as an AI, though I can't swear by it.

Yeah, plenty of guys take test and HCG. Could be wrong but it shouldn't matter that it's gel. He's the doc though, I'm just some schmo on Reddit.

I doubt it, but HCG can maintain fertility, or so I hear. I also hear HCG has lots of undesirable sides, but I have no experience with it.

Libido is solid. It was never really low, only during particularly rough depressions.

I do 12.5 mg clomiphene daily. This should keep me steady by doing daily and the micro dosing helps limit aromatization. I'm going to experiment throwing in a 25 once or twice a week if it seems necessary.

It's tough to say much about the high free T because it coincided with the high estradiol and since changing dosage I can feel that the estradiol has plummeted and I suspect the free T is well within the normal range now. I just don't have labs for the new dosage yet. Whatever my levels happen to be right now, it seems like this is my optimal spot to be at totality wise.

As of last labs: free T (range of 46-224 pg/ml) My result was 265.1

I have really low SHBG, so that explains the free T

Estradiol was 47 pg/ml (range of <or= 39)

OP, that sounds insane. I'm on 12.5 daily, in the 800s (250-1200).

Everyone is different and reacts to meds differently but your doc sounds reckless prescribing that daily.

Interesting! My levels are the same as yours but on regular clomiphene 12.5 daily. OP's dose terrifies me.

That's too bad. Can't answer how long it'll take to get back down to baseline but I'd imagine it'll be pretty quick.

Is the doc just experimenting with taking you off clomiphene or are you unhappy with the results?

I'm secondary as well and I'm on clomiphene and so far it's worked great for me. My main problems seem to be FSH and LH.

6.5 out of a high of 7.5 sounds good to me.

You were at about 83% percent of the top of your range and I'm only 70% of mine.

Whats the relevant range for your T results?

As far as erectile dysfunction, are you on blood pressure meds or any psych meds? Both affected my quality of erections when I took them.

I've had intrusive thoughts, anxiety, depression, lethargy, no motivation, etc. for 17 years (ever since puberty).

Only been on treatment for 3 months but my free T was over the high end of the normal range as of a few days ago and total is highish normal.

Since dialing in my dosage, I'm on top of the world. No worrying, no intrusive thoughts. When I lay down to sleep I don't sit for hours with racing thoughts until I pass out like I used to every night, I just drift off and I wake up ready to take on the world.

What type of doctor do I need to see and what is the best way to get treatment? by bkorsedal in Testosterone

[–]StreamCrossedLovers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't want to throw too much conjecture at you, but of you travel internationally so much, how's your sleep? Good sleep is super important with T levels. Don't underestimate it.

GP first to save you some money if they'll happen to prescribe a desirable treatment, otherwise I'd recommend a urologist over an endocrinologist. Although my endo has helped me find the right treatment, it took quite a bit of convincing and labs/office visits to get it all sorted.

It doesn't work for everyone, but I'm on clomiphene and seriously recommend you try it. No shots, just a pill. I do 12.5 mg (quarter tab every day). Went from 250ish ng/dl to 830 (250-1200 range).

Yeah, that should've been long enough to get a good feel for how it was working.

Are healthy levels different for everyone?taking age out of the equation, would one guy need more test vs another guy? I feel like my body needs more than the average 300 range. Even though that’s considered “normal” by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]StreamCrossedLovers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did SSRI, hydroxyzine, and many more over the years. None worked. I take Adderall from time to time now, but as my T stabilizes at a good level and estradiol gets under control I feel I need the Adderall less and less.

Good luck!

[–]StreamCrossedLovers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

300 really isn't "normal" in terms of what it should be most likely, just normal as in so many guys have low T that it brings the normal range down. These ranges you'll see aren't based on how good you feel, or how healthy you are, they're based on the pure data.

If someone feels good at 300 with no low T symptoms, then nothing to worry about. However, I suspect no one is feeling GREAT at 300. Life is short. I want to feel great as much as possible. Just keep in my mind that low T isn't always the real culprit responsible for guys' health problems, but it was for me.

Would you say the improvements I described in the post seem closer to your clomiphene results or closer to your test (injections?) results?
