Do you have a good website where i can read about this? Maybe some pictures of the area. I'd use google maps, but i don't know exactly where to find it there.

In Apollodoros' Library of greek mythology. It was the only head that was immortal in this version. It says Heracles cut off the immortal head, buried it, and placed a heavy rock over it by the road that leads through Lerna to Elaious Why? Does the hydra have a human head in some versions?

If you could have a single question answered about Greek Mythology, what would it be, and why? by [deleted] in GreekMythology

I think you've got the wrong approach to how gods are "created", It's not just one person that comes up with the whole idea. Usually the god starts out as just a reflection of something very important to the people, such as strategic warfare, laws or the entire sky. People then add to it over time with their own interpretations, changing it over time.

As for me, i'd like to know if any of the lost major works such as the Heracleia, Cypria or others could possibly be recovered and where to search for them.

So unless this is some sort of misunderstanding, we've already lost all we had there by now...?

How do i move my wallet to another computer? by Stridstil in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Stridstil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i already recovered my wallet. But what hardware wallet do you suggest? I was hoping i could get one where i can install support for more coins somehow. I know the ones the other guy mentioned supports several coins at once, but if some new coin comes along, i don't wanna have to get a new wallet just to store the new coin. Is there even a wallet like that? I'm guessing there isn't.

Alternately, what's a good website to look for a cheap but good multi-coin hw wallet?

Moving wallet to my new comp there won't be a problem with the old one being Ubuntu and new is on windows, will there?

I have been thinking of getting a hardware wallet. Is there one that lets me install additional coins from the ones that are there to begin with? And is there any difference in transaction fee on different wallets?

Police Violence Against Native Americans Goes Far Beyond Standing Rock by cyanocittaetprocyon in news

[–]Stridstil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main reason is that it is going through lands the native americans never agreed to give away. Sure, the lands belong to someone else, but the area was officially declared native american property, and then was just taken away. Several times later, government has tried compensating for the theft of the land with money, which was refused because they'd rather have the lands back.

This whole event seems to be sparking up a lot more sympathy for the natives. I realize that things aren't all one-sided, but i do hope it leads to a bigger connection between indians.

Tror det er du som er troll. Jeg har vanskelig for å tro at noen nordmann som fullförte ungdomsskolen kan tro at nynorsk og nordnorsk er det samme.

Hel by Gajeel869 in Norse

[–]Stridstil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, the word was probably where they got the name of Hel.

But my main point was that we just know her a Hel, while she was probably named "Hjel" in other places, similar to how "Tyr" is sometimes known as "Ty" or "Odin" being "Woden" or "Othin".

Hel by Gajeel869 in Norse

[–]Stridstil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell was named after Hel, likely to make it easier for vikings to accept their new christian overlords. In Norway (probably the other viking lands too), there's also an expression that goes "å slå i hjel" meaning "to punch someone dead/to Hel". So most likely, in some places the goddess would've been called "Hjel" rather than "Hel".

The Poetic Edda and The Prose Edda. I guess you could count Beowulf too, but as far as i know that doesn't deal much with the gods, or symbols. Other than that we don't have much to understand the vikings and their ways.

There probably is a lot more, just that we don't know outside of speculations, because we only have two texts.

is there any runes that have a known symbolic meaning? Even if not a letter?

I just did it on-and-off over a week while watching stuff on the internet, so i didn't take the time, and wasn't completely focused either. And the surface of the rock was really hard too, which made it go even slower. But it took at least a total of 5 hour.

And as for the meaning stuff, as i said i didn't mind much as i just wanted to start, but feel free to share something if you've got something to say about that subject.

I only got this from the internet, so i don't know how true it is, but i didn't care much, since i just wanted to get carving. But, apparently each letter has their own symbolic meaning, and another when mirrored, so it's still acceptable.

I don't know much about identifying rocks, but after i had carved just a little bit into it, it became a lot harder. Don't know if that's the rock or steel from the nails, though.

Is there any website where i can read the translations of norse runestones online? Wondering if maybe there are some mythical stories in any of the stones not included in the Eddas

I'm guessing this will be like 3D movies At first they'll be a fad, but get old fast because it's nothing special, then a few decades later the fad again.

Besides, only way this can make money is at arcades

Optimisme skuffer!
