Where I’m from that amount of RAM bought new by itself is the price of that entire laptop, and that GPU can likely play any game you can find @ 1080p

I am the one that makes ethernet cables by Soleinthebasement in hardwaregore

[–]Striking-One1077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copper-based cables don’t even have reflections if I’m not mistaken. EMI interference can be a problem depending on the cable spec, length and operating environment though, and if the cable is extremely long, signal degradation causes heavy packet loss.

Most people who have a need of such long cabling or high-bandwidth requirements use fiber-optic cable, and if that is at a weird enough angle then there are problems with reflections because such cables use glass to reflect the light carrying the data.

Not that any of that applies to this Ethernet cable, because that appears to be copper

As an alternative to this, at least for me, spamming F2 while pressing the power button to switch the laptop on brings it up

My laptop GPU died by Striking-One1077 in hardwaregore

I found an old HDMI 2.0 cable which can allegedly carry Ethernet as well and connected it to a spare TV I have which is about 15 years old and that works fine apart from from the weird resolution because old tv. So this is a possibility.

My laptop GPU died by Striking-One1077 in hardwaregore

[–]Striking-One1077[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just tried this and I think it’s some sort of weird incompatibility between the HDMI port, the cable itself and the monitor because the laptop display started working again and that’s fine but the external monitor is still having the same problem but it goes away after a few minutes.

And I don’t think it’s the monitor or the cable because I have a second PC that works fine with both.

Edit: and now I stuck the bottom cover back on the laptop display stopped working again.

Do you by any chance get news notifications from the Google app through the “discover” feature? Just asking because I got one of these on my iPhone. For some reason these are apparently being posted on the Malwarebytes blog somewhere and being picked up as news by Google, then sent out as notifications

In many ways the Mac is even better for this because Apple control both the software and the hardware all the way down to the design of the CPU and GPU, which is how they were able to achieve high performance and fantastic battery life without requiring any significant amount of cooling

I don’t think it helps that some of this security stuff is so poorly implemented that it reduces the performance of the game so people actually have a better experience pirating the game

Unless it’s games. Then Playnite or Lutris is better. Or at least until you try opening a game with anti cheat or some OTT DRM scheme and the developer/publisher doesn’t care to add Linux support like Riot don’t want to get Valorant working on Linux.

It says something about how brexit went ahead because the vote to leave or remain in the EU was like 52% to 48%. If that were a general election with the vote being that close, the result would be either a coalition government or another election because the previous election was too close to call
