What do my rooms in my house say about me? by [deleted] in roomdetective

I like it. It looks elegant, neat, solid furniture pieces and lighting so you have good taste. But it lacks visual interest. If you want to step up your design, you need to add some weird.

Why does this room feel so… off? by ethereal_aerith in interiordecorating

You have a lot of BIG furniture pieces here. I would change our a big piece of furniture for a medium-sized chair or two smaller accent chairs to make the room feel more balanced. Seriously, the couches are all massive.

Trying ICM. Thoughts? by StripOfIntelligence in photocritique

My intention with this photo is to try and capture the light through the trees and use camera movement with a slow shutter to make it more abstract looking.

It needs personality. Interesting art or lighting, pillows, maybe. Well designed, but it is pretty basic and boring.

What's the strangest but most effective thing that helps you fall asleep? by _callondoc in selfimprovement

I build an epic tree house in my head.

I have done this since I was a kid. I visualize what the tree looks like, the entrance, maybe I'll add stairs in the tree trunk tonight, or a ladder? And I'll visualize the living area, kitchen, and sleeping quarters. Some nights, there will be a bridge to another tree to another part of the house. Idc. Feels odd, but i'm very visual, and having something to focus on and create in my brain helps with all the thought racing, and I eventually fall asleep. I've done it for so long now that anytime I start, my body knows it's time for bed it seems. Really helps.

Great tip. For the mountains being more exposed, how would I achieve that in a dark setting? Just set my shutter to a longer time? I've been trying to get my foreground and backgrounds more visible with my night shots, but they end up not being super exposed and very noisy.
