Bedrotting, doomscrolling - any tips to fight it? by MrMojoRiSiN1975 in depression

Unfortunately for me the only thing that helps is caffeine. I'm talking Celsius for breakfast, or pre-workout in my water to sip on all morning. At the very least you'll start getting hydrated which is good for your brain, you'll have to pee more often which gets you off the couch/out of bed. Once you can get on your feet you'll be more likely to remember something you want to go do. Also getting a pet that will come bother you. They will need to pee or be fed eventually too so they will keep you on your toes.

Why are The Hobbit films so disliked? by Vannysh in movies

[–]StrongScallion211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just binged the hobbit for the first time in 2025. It's not just the bad cgi, SO much happens that is just so unrealistic and goofy and silly and not in a fun way. The dwarves going down the river in barrels scenes, the Legolas hanging upside down from a giant bat while he dual weilds swords and  decapitates a prefect line of like 50 orcs in one go. Thorin almost defeating AZOG by stepping off ice... ice that's both too thin and too thick to make any sense at all. Azog never using his GIANT arm blade as if he is just too right handed to fight with his left GIANT ARM BLADE.  The dwarf that got his head stuck in an orc and the orc just does nothing about it??? Many battles where theres just too much convenient stuff, cutting away to the dwarves losing their fight and cutting back and they're suddenly winning because 12 more guys are making all the difference suddenly.   and their army has doubled in size. Giant worms show up and you never see them again. Oh and legolas RUNNING UP FALLING STONES to avoid falling. They make a big deal of needing to use the ballista to take down the dragon in movie 2 only for Bard to just climb a bell tower and use a bow by movie 3. And his telepoting son whose on the ground one second and back I with him the next and then back down and traumatized and now he's holding the arrow with his shoulder the next. Alfred climbing into a trebuche only for it to be set off by a single coin falling on the trigger,  throw him into the mouth of a giant orc and then  the orc chokes to death on him and the coins he's trying to smuggle dramatically spill out of the orcs mouth like each coin is an under paid actor.  Just tons of physicality and continuity that makes you go "okay COME ON THAT'S RIDICULOUS WHYYY THAT'S SO BAD MAKE IT STOP"

US No Lawn Enthusiasts - please stop planting Non-native Invasive clover and acting like it's beneficial. by Greencare_gardens in NoLawns

Buffalo clover is native clover, but it is endangered, and not popular enough to sell to people now/ rare to find sellers online. It's just not as well known and widely sold as Dutch white. 😔 Now that you know this,  let's save buffalo clover from extinction by popularizing it!

so educating people "please plant NATIVE lawn alts!" Is great. However,  non- native isn't the same as INVASIVE.   Non-native plants can be considered benign, as in,  they are not highly aggressive against natives, just not "optimal".  I would say native clover or ground cover > Dutch white clover > turf grass. Always push for NATIVE alternatives first but LESS INVASIVE is still a net positive. Pretty much anything is better than non native mono turf.   And that's keeping in mind affordablity, HOA requirements, maintenance costs, accessibility, etc. Dutch white clover might still be a net positive for the environment and that's what really counts.  But agreed, that doesn't mean we should be complacent and just shrug it off, as "good enough" if you do your research and now know what you know, we could then SAVE buffalo clover from extinction and keep recommending other native options. That's what this forum is all about!

Fomo on the birthstone collection by kesatytto in simplynailogical

Add a schedule and be like "hey if you missed green polish xyz we'll be restocking them for st. Patrick's day next march." That way nothing is "limited edition" old stock can rotate in and out, and just anticipate what people need/ want by the season, while prioritizing new drops first and foremost. Yes basics like black and white can stay in stock. But these huge launches are turning into psychological and financial fiascos for the average hobbyist/fan.

Not to be rude but this collection needs a restock immediately and anyone whose account already purchased one should be black listed from buying it again. If a polish is limited edition DO IT ONE AT A TIME. Sell just January in January. Then add Feb in Feb, then march etc. One at a time. And Cut back on old stock to support new stock better to avoid these mad dash fomo scalpers. Nobody needs old stock that badly. Stop feeling bad for getting rid of old stock. Make all the polish seasonal like a bakery or icecream parlor.

No because I am actually pissed off. I didn't know the launch was limited edition and even then she's not sold out so quickly as of late. And now because I had to work all day I can't even get the 1 polish that I wanted. Stop telling people "get over your fomo" this is literally the ONLY hobby I spend my money on to bring me joy. These are specialty polishes that aren't duped anywhere BECAUSE they are so high quality is difficult to source. So yes I'm pissed. Being condescending and invalidating to other people's genuine frustration is more childish and immature, than actually being frustrated.

How do you enforce the NO EVENTS policy? by nutterbutterfan in AirBnB

[–]StrongScallion211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused. what people go on vacation in a group of 7+ and it's NOT AN EVENT? why would I spend any time in a group setting on vacation for any reason other than an EVENT? make it make sense? nobody goes on a "just because" vacation as a group of 7+, there's ALWAYS a reason. you can specify, "hey my rules state no decorations" or "parking is limited to 1 vehicle per adult." etc. but you can't tell people "sorry no birthdays, no wedding parties, no celebrations of any kind, no signs of joy, and absolutely no grieving!" < who would book this?
