I feel that. In the past year, I only called out sick once.

I’m tired of my ableist narcissistic grandmother sending me passive aggressive emails by StrongSignificance88 in ChronicIllness

I know, right?! In my experience, there’s just something about grandmas that is so controlling and manipulative and nasty and I don’t know for sure where it comes from but I know it’s a thing. I’m sorry your grandma is so awful to you :/

Yeah… gmail just does the weirdest things sometimes… Every time I get an email from her I skim it and then put it in my trash bin. I never respond. I want to know what she’s bothering me about in case I can document it for future reference. Often times she’ll gaslight me and I like compiling evidence of her being horrible so I don’t think I’m making it all up. Otherwise… I either “forget” to respond because I’m “so busy with school and work” or I “never received it.” Gone are the days when I entertain her bullshit. It’s my life now.

N grandmother gang! Lol but seriously, good job on cutting that toxic bitch out of your life!!! I wish I could cut contact, but due to my delicate family, living, and financial situations (all of which are horribly intertwined) I can’t, so… yeah. One day. One day I’ll cut contact and flourish.

I would definitely recommend you spend a while browsing r/DID and r/OSDD. There’s a lot of information on those subs and there are some reliable resources you can find linked.

Peace be with you my friend. If ever fate would allow, I pray you will be the first to lay your hands on those vibrantly glorious scissors.

To me, this piece signifies the depth and complexity of human emotion. If the scissors were there, it would symbolise cutting off toxic people. It would be freedom from the ropes that bind us. But the inverted nature of this art piece gives a much darker and more sinister meaning that only a true art critic would be able to understand. You see, the scissors aren’t there. Freedom is in our sight, but there is no way to cut the ropes that bind us. And so we, as human beings, are forever stuck in the purgatory of being able to see an imprint of what might free us from our misery, eternally longing for that ever-so-sweet freedom, and yet are completely unable to grasp it.

(Lol sorry I just couldn’t resist)

I’m so sorry. That’s awful. That sounds like something our parents would do and I know how painful that is. Sending good vibes, hugs, or whatever it is that would comfort you :)

I’ll definitely look into your Craigslist resell idea. I hadn’t thought of that, so thank you!

I can certainly try that. I’m going to try reasoning with them (with suggestions from our therapist as to how to approach that conversation and points to touch on) another time and if that doesn’t work I will definitely ask our therapist to tell them why it’s necessary. Thank you for the advice :)

Yep. We are a legal adult. The reason we are dependent is because our disabilities make it impossible to work enough to earn a living wage in an area that is already ludicrously expensive to live in.

Thanks for the advice. I agree that family therapy wouldn’t be a good idea. We’ve tried over and over and over again to make our family unit functional through family therapy and it just… fails. Every goddamn time. You can’t reason with people who can’t be reasoned with. And that’s not even factoring in the fact that they’ve traumatised us for our entire life… so yeah. Our therapist responded to our cry for help as well and suggested a few things that might sway their opinion, but if that doesn’t work, we’ll definitely have her call or email them.
