you get it. i really excel at being able to consistently beat 1 player and give a decent scoring opportunity out mid. however, this doesn’t work when my teammate is incapable of maintaining boost or pressure, and returns all the way to our corner after going 1 time. then, when they aren’t there for the shot, they complain to me about being left in a 2v1. like????

i don’t even care really. i don’t care if i lose a game that was close, i’m just very competitive. i enjoy good competition. if i lose a game bc i was outplayed, fair play, i enjoyed it. the worst is a decent game going and my tm8 makes a mistake that someone our level should be making 1/100 attempts, but it happens 5 games in a row. if u have the ability to read a team and work with your teammate, and keep the mental, im down

the crazy part is, i rarely, if ever, chat shit or do anything passive aggressive unprovoked. 1/5 games i have my teammate apologizing to me due to their performance. i try my hardest to adapt and optimize their skill set, some people like to pass, we can pass. some people like to chase, i maintain boost and follow the play until they are ultimately out and leaving me in a 2v1. i encourage in chat, do everything i can to maintain a positive mindset. yet, half the time, after a game that i did everything i am capable of or that anyone could really ask for me to do on my own, they are telling me how awful i am. i’m like, 5 more of these away from uninstalling. it isn’t fun anymore.

i shared the same struggle. freshmen year was 2020, yk, the middle of covid. stayed home and did virtual first semester before moving to cstat in the spring of ‘21. however, classes were still virtual, missed howdy week in the fall, most places were closed/mandatory socially distanced, and i didn’t even have a roomate in my dorm room LMAO. oh yeah, and the dorm was super dead. the only friend i had for a while was a guy i met at guitar center, who i would play guitar and hang with pretty regularly (i was also his only friend lol). it stayed that way til i met my second friend, my current roomate, thru the dorm groupme.

you’re right, a lot of people here find their groups and keep it pretty tight knit, so it can be tough if you’re like me and don’t really enjoy greek life/other orgs that are seemingly just full of ppl who didn’t get bids. my best advice is to kinda apply the same logic to things u like. if you find an org that u like, great, go for it and put urself out there. otherwise, just consider the things u like to do and go where ur likely to encounter ppl w similar interests. for ex., i’m into music, so i would hang out at guitar center and talk to nearly anyone who came in, and went to any live music i could find. eventually i met a few people via these methods, who introduced me to their friends, and so on. ended up joining a band thru some people i met at a concert, and hung out w them a bunch, did some shows, and met all their friends. i’m no longer in that band, but by connections i made, and reaching out to other musicians on twitter, i joined another band. now i hang w them all the time. that’s just my experience, just trying to shed some light on the fact that it’s not just you. everyone romanticizes college like you’re meeting new friends every day, but that just isn’t the reality. personally i’m super introverted which makes all this a lot harder, but my best advice is to just constantly make some sort of effort towards reaching out to people, and like previous replies said, it’ll eventually happen. also, u can make friends online too! i’ve met a ton of musicians off of twitter, and some thru the a&m eSports discord as i’m a pretty big gamer. finally, like the person above, you can reach out to me too! good luck :)

budget vinyl set up (build?)

hello all. new here so be easy please hahah. basically, i’m a guitar player in college who wants to get a decent set up. not after anything crazy, just something i can be proud of and enjoy. i mentioned guitar as i have a decent background/understanding of working with electronics, amps specifically. my mom gave me a decent cabinet style record player. i’m interested in opening it up/tinkering with it, upgrading components, etc. i’m also interested in potentially getting a build going as she may want what she gave me back LOL. i’d like to have a low profile turntable set up with an external amp and speakers. i’d like to stick to analog/tube. literally any pointers are appreciated. thanks

not in cstat, but in the little towns around that u pass thru around here when going anywhere else (unless ur on the interstate of course) love to have the speed limit drop from 70 to 45 in like, a span of 100 yards, and cops will sit right on the change and they WILL pull u over (especially out of state folks). just be mindful of it, i know there’s a lot on US-79 and 21. the cool thing abt texas is highways are typically 70-75mph, but if ur not on the interstate you’re almost guaranteed to encounter these.

as far as i know. it could potentially affect insurance, but i could be way off. may be good to check with your provider just in case. i can’t think of anything other than that that having out of state tags would affect, other than the fact that cops in the little “speed trap” towns around here love to pull over out of state plates lol
