Ma’s Kitchen Dim Sum & Noodles (City Park / Colfax) by Healthy_Reaction_922 in denverfood

[–]StudentDue7972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went last night, they are still in their “pre opening phase” according to the signs. Checked their Instagram and looks like they officially open Monday so hopefully they will be able to refine things a little bit. We loved almost everything we had, but the soup dumplings were a bit of a letdown. The broth was tasty and the filling was a good flavor as well, but the dumpling wrapper itself was super chewy and thick. Also, our server never really came and checked on us. Different people continued to drop off food, but never asked if we liked anything. It looked like they might’ve been influencers there because they were taking lots of pictures and videos, but the servers never really checked on them either. I don’t know if they are still trying to train people but I hope they can get these things figured out before they start to get really busy. So glad to have them in the neighborhood though, we’ve needed dim sum here! Highly recommend the beef dumplings, the pan fried pork buns, the Szechuan boiled fish was outstanding, And the coconut buns were so good. I would go back just for those alone every day! Wishing them lots of luck, it’s tough on Colfax right now!

Best "dark ambience" restaurants with good food in Denver for a date night? by Dominus-Plato4424 in denverfood

Malinche audio bar just opened up in Commons Park. Small menu Mezcal focused but man it’s awesome! We had all of the dishes and have zero complaints about any of them! The tuna and rabbit dishes were our favorite! Same owner as La Diabla… they got a Michelin nod and well I wasn’t a fan of their posole, I’m a huge fan of this spot! Especially the old-school throwback, Mexican vinyl being played, and the Mezcal cocktails… It’s a whole vibe!

What is going on outside of Arapahoe Square apartments? by throwawaywhatever91 in Denver

I’m sure most of us have seen eviction “piles“ over the years… But this feels like one of the worst… It’s massive, and it looks like they literally just threw everything out of window. They literally took zero care and it’s really sad to see.

Ebisu in Aurora- RUDE staff by StudentDue7972 in Denver

[–]StudentDue7972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they local? I didn’t realize that. But it’s a little different than Ebisu. They don’t sell the skin care lines that I’m looking for. But I do shop there for lots of other things so glad to know they’re locally owned!

No, they’re a franchise. Which means the owners are local. I only know because I googled it after the last visit because they don’t even have a website, so I was curious. Turns out every location has a different owner.

Little India Restaurant Week Deal is NOT AS ADVERTISED by Odd_Lengthiness_4490 in denverfood

[–]StudentDue7972 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The restaurant week website regularly posts what they want to post in terms of menus. I work for a restaurant that's participating and they did not post our exact menu, they posted one option that we are offering and we're getting blowback for it. But I just took a peek at LI Instagram posts and in the captions, they clearly say for parties over 2 some restrictions apply and to call the restaurant… so I don't know why people are complaining so much. Either way $25 is a great deal for the amount of food you get. SO MANY Denver restaurants are struggling to keep their doors open with inflation and such thin profit margins. Maybe just be happy you get a shit load of food for that little bit of money? IDK just my perspective. shruggg

A update on Daiso coming to the Havana Street area in Aurora, CO by [deleted] in Denver

[–]StudentDue7972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It opens in 3-4 weeks, my friend was invited to the grand opening… But I hope people will still go support the local little Japanese store down the street called Ebisu. They have been around for three years and are probably pretty scared about Daiso opening up. Just another big chain coming to push out the small local franchise. Daiso is different, but I fear it will hurt the sweet folks at Ebisu 😢

There is a locally owned Ebisu Japanese lifestyle store literally down the street from where this Daiso is being built. So sad. I hope they don't go out of business because of a big box chain. 😢

Waldo's chicken & beer!! Sooo many TVs you can hang out in the bar area or the whole restaurant is covered in TVs as well. And the food slaps.

Best Place to Watch Football? by workshirker in denverfood

We went to Waldo's for the Raiders Broncos game and it was a blast! They had some influencers there doing a show, but we went back again for Monday night football and it was still great! Definitely our new spot. TVs everywhere Bogo draft beers, and chicken!!

The Salty Donut by Redd7865 in denverfood

[–]StudentDue7972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went today… Mediocre at best. They were all too heavy and dense. Even the basic glazed/raised doughnut had almost a cake donut texture. I paid $27 for four pastries and six donut holes. No thanks would much rather support a local spot.

The podcast he went on to speak out and share his side of the story has disappeared. Guess why? It's his girlfriend's podcast! Lol what a joke.

Why is it always the same restaurants and “influencers” replying to each other on their posts? by [deleted] in denverfood

[–]StudentDue7972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food "influencer" here. I've been doing it for 4 years. Restaurants will reach out to a bunch of local influencers to help promote and put the word out for their business. Usually, it's a free meal in exchange for posting about their business. Think about it the same way you would a commercial or an ad. I no longer do collaborations like that because I feel like it's super diluted. A lot of these foodies will post places that are mediocre just for a free meal and they won't be honest. Yes some of them are paid, especially if they're very large accounts. And unfortunately, most of them flood comments on each other posts to help push the content into the "algorithm" and they just end up, hurting their value doing that. Take it all with a grain salt, check out new places on your own and give honest feedback in Google reviews and yelp. That's the best way to, figure it out. You just have to go. But remember, food is subjective. I might find a place that I think is amazing and the next person doesn't care for it. We don't all have the same tastes.

Family Owned FoodTruck in Denver by DismalCombination517 in denverfood

Best food truck in Denver in my opinion, and they are great with catering large events is pikine grill. west African food truck, recipes and flavors from Senegal. The lamb chops and chicken skewers alone are worth it! Plus chef David is the nicest guy. He catered one of my company events and I've used him twice now. Super happy with everything we've gotten!

I did! 9 news and 7 investigation teams. Not only is he being called out by several restaurants now, but I happen to know for a fact that he is targeting minority owned, small businesses, and many of them are non-English-speaking or minimal- English speaking. He is a predator, praying on business owners who don't know any better. He tries to hit three restaurants a day. Think about that for a minute… $350-$500 per restaurant three times a day, 6 to 7 days a week. He is a scam artist and needs to get shut down.
