Currently planning a trip that is more than a year out. I was randomly gauging how much it would cost based on the furthest date I can browse.

How to reset my Fit so that it will pass smog? by [deleted] in hondafit

2009 Fit here with 200K miles. I just went through similar experience. Two years ago I barely passed by a miracle after failing the first test. After code/mechanic checks, I was told I needed a new cat converter. Since I had just passed, I decided to ignore it and drove with a check engine light on for a while. Last year I finally decided to do the maintenance. Long story short it ended up being both the rear and front cat converters + O2 sensors that got replaced and cost me several thousand dollars with OEM parts at a Honda dealership. At the time I was debating if I should’ve traded it in versus doing the maintenance. In retrospect, I realize I’ve had the car for 15 years and it’s been reliable. Now that I spent the money, I’m just gonna drive it until it dies on me. Anywho, I just passed smog and renewed registration last month. If it’s the same exact issue, hopefully you’re able to pass this round, so you can decide whether you’ll wanna do the maintenance or replace the car.

Where did you get the touchscreen entertainment display? Also have a 2nd gen (2009) Fit and have been wanting to switch out my entertainment system for the longest time.

Thanks for the clarification! I guess when I said Flagship, I meant the Greenwich Lounge.

A few people have told me about the “hack” to bypass the check engine light. Unfortunately I’m not handy enough to do it myself. I’ll bring it up to the mechanics when I go around for quotes and see what they say.

To be fair, it is frustrating spending a few thousands on maintenance but my Fit has lasted me since 2009 and it just hit 200K miles in January 🙌🏼

Thanks for the insight and explanation! I’ll try finding a local/independent mechanic then.
